How does IRCC calculate midnight time ?

My work permit expiry date is today February 11, 2024. My gckey account already shows work permit expired. Will I have maintained status if I apply before midnight UTC today? Please answer. Urgent.

Date and time of receipt of application
The date and time of receipt are important for determining if status is maintained under subsection R183(5). For electronic applications, the department uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) around the world to ensure that time is equal for all. Therefore, receipt dates and times do not depend on time zones; all applications must be submitted before midnight UTC on the date the applicant’s status expires. If the application was received after midnight UTC on the date of expiry, the applicant does not maintain their status under subsection R183(5).

So your work permit expires February 11 but you say that account says expired? Neither time - UTC time.

You must do it ASAP because it is based on UTC. You should be able to continue working. How are you eligible for an extension.

Thanks for your reply. I just have one last question. Will the fact that the status of my document shows expired have an effect on me receiving work Authorization letter ? When IRCC says midnight February 11 , do they mean before 11:59 February 10 or 11:59 February 11 ?

Mentioned a few times - it is UTC time. So look at UTC time with your time zone. Nothing to do with 11:59.
