How can I make sure I get my AOR? Do I need to call?

Hi everyone,

My wife and I sent our application in for PR/OWP and it arrived on Nov 24th via UPS w/Signature. Now my wife has found out she is pregnant and we need her AOR letter to be able to apply for medical coverage under MSP. I am wondering how long I should wait (3-5 weeks?) and I want to know what I should do if it doesn't arrive. Can I call someone at CIC and have them help me out?

Thanks for any help/info.

You will be waiting at least another 5-8 weeks to hear anything

Well thats for outland anyway, I think you did inland right? Maybe its different, find the inland thread on here and see how long it is taking people over the last few months to receive it.

You might try checking here (in a few weeks):
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas

For `Identification Type', just use your UCI number. This will (eventually) show that the application has been received, but nothing more.

Unfortunately, an AOR probably isn't going to be enough to satisfy the MSP clerks, but I know you need to at least try.

Well the AOR has been enough for some on this forum so I will make every effort to see that it is enough and I will push them hard on it. I intend to write detailed explanation of their rules and I won't hesitate to talk to supervisors and call constantly. I will literally call them everyday until that is resolved. My wife needs medical coverage so it's not something I will give up on.

As far as using my UCI, I don't have a UCI.

Have you seen this:

(story about the challenges of MSP for Inland applicants)

Here's the author's FOI request:

I hope it helps.

That information is helpful indeed. I wonder if he applied before getting his AOR because I don't know how long it will take to get. I will wait till the new year to see if the AOR comes. If I don't have it by then I will call CIC and see if I can get any information from them. If that doesn't work, I will just apply for MSP with what I have and I will try and be very clear about things. I have no other choice that I can see.
