Hours Worked

I have two questions related to the number of hours worked

1) I started off working 37.5 hours, after 5 months I was given the option of moving to a 40 hour work week and I took it. My question is how would i file that under the section "Your work experience in Canada" in the "SCHEDULE 8 ECONOMIC CLASSES - CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS" form as two separate entries or a single entry.

2) I am paid biweekly, and all my paystubs are for more than the 60hrs/biweekly minimum, except for one paycheck where i have worked 59.93 hours. Will this be an issue? I plan on sending my application off at 1 year 1 day (dont think I can wait 1 year 1 week). My total number of hours worked is at greater than 1800 hours (greater than the minimum 30 hours x 52 weeks= 1560 hours). What are your thoughts?

Once again, thanks to any one who takes time to read this. Your help is greatly appreciated :)

1) There was a change in hours but otherwise the job stayed the same? Keep it as one entry.

2) Keep in mind that when calculating your hours worked, you cannot count more than 30 hours in any given week.

For all weeks with 30+ hours, count each one as one full-time week.
For all weeks with less than 30 hours, sum up the hours and divide by 30 to get the equivalent full-time weeks.
Your total should exceed 52 full-time weeks.

So for CEC purposes, the theoretical maximum is 1,560 hours per year.

That said, I don't think you even need to attach pay stubs, as this is an optional item, and your experience letter will state that you worked for either 37.5 or 40 hours (therefore exceeding CIC's definition of full time) during a period exceeding one year.

1 year 1 day is cutting it very fine - are you sure you can't wait the few extra days?

In my schedule 8, i entered dates as Sept 4th 2012 until Aug 31st 2013 which is 12 month period. I joined on 4th as sept. 1 and 2 is weekend and 3rd is long weekend. I am assuming that this is fine with the 12 month period experience. Also i have 35 hours of work for a week. I got AOR. I think am fine here considering the 12 month timeline for eligibility and it might have been validated during AOR.

That's a very tight timeline and leaves things open for debate
35+ hours does not make a difference as only 30 hours is counted.
I'm sorry to say that just because you had AOR doesn't mean it's ok. One user was out of sync by 11 days and was rejected.
CEC is pass/fail. Don't give the VO any reason to doubt your experience.
Good luck

I think your employment reference letter should show 12 months experience. Sept 4th 2012 until Aug 31st 2013 is not 12 months duration.

I would not make that assumption. Twelve months means exactly that: twelve months. While it's true CIO does do some preliminary checking on your work experience, this only started when OB554 came out (November 8, 2013). For applications received before that, they were pretty much just checking that your forms were there and that they were signed.

not necessarily 3 weeks, you are missing just 6 hours that means you can get them in just 1 day, even thou, I will suggest to do so (work those 3 weeks) even a little bit more just to be on the safe side and cover any period off the job (not paid holidays, days off, etc...)

Kind of risky if your employment letter doesn't count the first 3 days of September, then you are not covered for a "full" year,(even when is just 3 no laboral days) and it leaves the decision to VO criteria.

Visa Officer opinion, Sept 4th to august 31st is not a full year...(it should be Sept 1st- Aug31st)
Any unpaid period will affect the time as well (1 week unpaid holidays and you are short that week) that's why is better to be a little bit over

Well... paystubs are not required documents, so it should not matter. What IS a problem is, if your letter says you work 40 hours a week (80 hours biweekly, or 75 hours at 37.5 hours), and you didn't actually work that much - then your total earnings reported on the T4 and NOA will be off; if it is off by a lot, then it's a red-flag to CIC that either your wage is not reported correctly, or your hours...

I plan on sending my application off at 1 year 1 day (dont think I can wait 1 year 1 week).
Not recommended. First, remember that your letter of employment must be written/dated AFTER you complete your 1 year employment. 2nd, if CIC has doubts, and requests your paystubs, they may find that you didn't fulfill the 1 year requirement. Please give yourself at least an extra week or two.

My total number of hours worked is at greater than 1800 hours (greater than the minimum 30 hours x 52 weeks= 1560 hours). Not relevant. The instruction guide specifically states that you cannot use hours in excess of 30 per week to make up for the hours short of 30 per week. Full-time weeks are just full-time weeks, part-time weeks need to be calculated in terms of FTE (as LPS said, above).

If you submit your paystubs, they certainly can. In the "more documentation is not always better" vein, one applicant was refused because they submitted their paystubs. Would probably have been OK without the paystubs, based on the information in the Letter of employment.

My reference letter mentions I worked 40 hours a week, but in some week during March and April I worked around 105-110 hrs bi-weekly (in-short working on weekends) but I was paid regular not 1.5 times. In couple of Cheque I was paid 1.5 and some I wasn't. Can that be an issue ?? Reference letter say I worked 40 hours and some cheque's has more than 80 hours bi- weekly.
