What's your timeline? U can't extebd your permit?

Unfortunately, I cant and even I applied for an extension as a visitor in May and I still havent got my permit.
It has been 3 months and i checked online that CIC is still processing application on May 1.
Im now only "implied status" which is still ok.
But if i can get my PR app done before the visitor permit.
Its much better for me to just go the border and land. Therefore, I can just cancel my visitor application.

My timeline is:
Application Rec'd: Dec 19 2014
AOR 1 & SA: Mar 5 2015
AOR 2: Apr 1 2015
IP: Aug 8 2015

I can feel you, bukeluke.
I resigned 2 months ago since my work permit was expired.
I am just studying at home and waiting for it.
I was planning to get it by the end of Sept so that I can go back to work asap. ><

What status are you stay in Canada then? Mine is almost done too. Don't think I can wait for another 20 months.

Forever waiting, they put my wife in the interview queue according to my MP. No specific date has been arranged and no update on ECAS. I have also emailed HK Office on Aug 21, 2015, no update as of today.

I was a student for 7 years and became a worker for 3 years after graduation.
Since my post-secondary work permit expired in June, i extended my stay in canada as a visitor in may before my permit expired.
I havent got my visitor permit yet but i have "implied status" at this moment.

I'm the same here. Just applied for work visa back in June. Don't know if I will get my work visa approved. I also have my pnp app sent to cio as well. The wait is frustrating. My agent told me that it's hard to get visited visa approved if you have the family sponsorship going on. Not sure if it's true.

From some of my friends, what i heard is if you are currently in canada and u are a study or work permit holder, CIC would normally gives you 6 months visitor visa since u may need some time to pack or finish thing up before going back to your home country.
However, if you are currently out of canada and have applied for the FAM, then it would be hard to get approval.

Really? The lawyer told me I only have one months to pack up my stuff. Please let me know if your visitor gets approved or not. Which one of the visitor did you apply? Visiting family?

They will respond to you in a month. Hopefully it will take less than 20 months to get our pr. Fingers crossed.

20 months is from the date they received the application, so if your process is more than 50% complete already, chances are you will only see a slight increase in the time... Example our application was received on 12 November, 2014 and got confirmation of receipt at HKVO on 13 March, 2015. Processing started on 26 June, 2015, my wife got her passport request on 12 August, 2015. All that is left is to receive the passport from HKVO. It might take a week or so more but that's it. Basically just assume worst case scenario things take twice as long to do as normal, what took 2 weeks before might take a month.

Hope this helps people relax a bit. :)

Go to cic website and check "visit to canada section".
There is a quote of determining your eligibility for applying visitor visa.

My agent told me to apply for the extension of stay as a visitor if i could not get my PR app done before my WP expired. Therefore, i can still stay in canada to wait.

Congrats on the COPR and the not so long timeline. Please keep updating on your advice through experience of sending stuff to Canada.
