Dear Sugus,

I am so happy to hear such good news from you !!!!! Congratulations!!!! Now you can start to pack the luggages and order the tickets. Which city are you going ? Maybe you take a look at Air Canada website, as it has very good sales now(5 days left). I wish your family and you have a nice trip to Canada! Keep me post, if you have any exciting news.

Best regards,

The Visa section of Hong Kong VO will be moved to Quarry Bay from 3 June. Hoping they will pick up the processing of our cases very soon. And according to the CIC website, Hong Kong VO just needs 7 months to handle 80% of the cases. This is way faster than many other VO. I remember it was said that they needed 19 months to process 3 years ago, and then 12 months 2 years ago, and now 7 months. Very impressive efficiency...

Hello everyone,

I'm newbie.

I'm a Canadian citizen now residing in HK. I wanna apply the Family class sponsorship for my husband.

I become housewife since Jan, 2014 so I don't have any personal incomes. Will that be a problem for our application?

Any support or advice is much appreciated.

No problem. Just follow the guidelines and complete the forms in the CIC website. Should you have any questions after reading the guidelines and forms, just post here.

Thanks! :)

We read thru the forms and have some questions:

My hubby and I knew each other for over 15 years. We didn't keep documents and/or emails in early period to prove our relationship. We only found few birthday cards, just wondering if these are ok. Can we send scanned copies?

For photos, we found that some of our photos didn't have date. Is it okay?

Do we have to organize the photos in chron. years and use paper clips to clip the photos yearly?

Sorry to hear that Minnekei. It seems like moving the consulate to a new location has slowed things down there a huge amount. I have AOR2 for early April, so it looks like I should just settle in for a long wait. I hope you hear something very soon. and thanks for posting. It is at least good to hear from somebody else who is in the same boat.

Does anyone know what year and month that they are processing for portent catergories?

My sponsorship approved in 2012 and submitted my parent's application in May 2013, did medical on August 2012 and applied police check in Nov 2012.

In Dec 2012 we received an email from cic comfirmed received our documents, since than we have not heard back from them.

I sent email to hkvo and they replied in Feb this year and told us we are in line. However according to the website it stated only take 12 months to process the application under parent catergories.

My parent is getting very depressed and feel no hope ..... What should I Do?

You could request the GCMS notes from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp - Might give some greater details of where you at in the processing in HK..

Hi AMCml

Thank you very much for your reply.

I submitted GCMS note last Monday but have not heard back yet.

I am wondering if I should send a letter to HKvO for status?

If i do so, will it delay my process?

That's a good question. I've wondered the same...
Not sure. Maybe someone else reading this thread would have some experience of possible delays due to their having to stop and reply. It would be typical of most bureaucracies.

With regard to the GCMS notes, my own experience of this request took almost eight weeks for a reply, but they were still recovering from the Foreign Worker's strike back then. I've recently made another and will post that timeline when I hear anything..., maybe others reading this will share their more recent GCMS stories?
