We called Hong Kong Police for security clearance before submit the application. They said they won't do it until VO sent us the request! and they said it will take more than a month to get the clearance done, well I guess all the civil servants are acting the same attitude even it's in Hong Kong~~~~
I know! i was told 4-6 weeks initially. But like i said, i started calling them bugging them, and i also sent a few emails and after 2.5 weeks they apparently processed it. Not sure if that's they average time, or because i bugged them a bit....

I got a few questions about the application. The first question of the application asks what I want to do if I'm found ineligible for sponsorship. Is there any reason why I wouldn't want a refund less $75 rather than proceeding with the application?

Another question I have is did everyone have to submit the 5 photos for each family member of the spouse being sponsored?

i chose option 1, get the refund if you are not eligible as sponsor. Not sure on the second question, i had to submit 8 photos of myself (applicant)

Thanks. My second question pertains to the "country specific" part where it requires 5 photos from each family member. Hong Kong is grouped with China and Macau. Is this part not required for sponsoring a spouse?

I applied via Hong Kong, but im Swedish so different.

I just looked up China (as hong kong is china) so yeah, you need 5 for you, and if there are others, 5 for each person

So that's 5 photos for each member of my spouse's family or my family? I believe it's 5 photos of my spouse's family members?

Depends who you are? are you the sponsor or the principal applicant?

Its 5 photos of the principal applicant and any other co-applicants

NOTE: Sponsor is already a Canadian citizen, and doesn't need to supply any photos.

Hi, they will send it directly to the VO here in Hong Kong. When you pay for it, they tell you it will take 4-6 weeks to process.

Sorry for my stupidity and confusion. I am the sponsor. So it asks 5 photos of the principal applicant (my spouse) and 5 photos of each of my spouse's family members? (non applicants)?

My gf is in the country on a working holiday visa and her application involved her getting medical and police clearance done. Does anyone know if any of those documents can be re-used? The medical isn't one year old yet and she's been in Canada pretty much since her working holiday got approved.

5 photos for principal applicant: for sure.

spouse's family members:

A: if the member will come with your spouse and includes in the application, yes, s/he needs that 5 photos.

B: if the member will NOT come with your spouse to Canada, s/he does not need that 5 photos.

The Medical record is value for one year.

Police clearance is value for half year, if she went to that country more than 6 months, she will also needs a security fingerprint from that country's local police office.

BTW, are you sponsoring a girlfriend or spouse? it has huge difference in processing!!! make it clear before submitting your application!!!

You do this if you would want to appeal the decision that you are ineligible to sponsor.
