Hi Mumof3,

Thanks for your update. I also arrived Canada as a visitor with my HK passport, I will stay in Canada for 3 months, but now I am thinking should I stay longer and wait for my PR :)

I have a question, will you prepare a B4 form when your PR/CORP is ready?
Hi LN9714 & Mumof3,

Hi, I am Ian, I am still waiting the PPR from HKVO as well as COPR documents , and looking your special case above (stay in Canada and wait for DM) not sure that how you guys do the landing once you got the COPR. how you do the landing procedure in the airport with COPR. ( B4 forms as well as COPR stamped date and officer signed ). cos I have the same situation as you guys and not dare to come to Canada to wait for the COPR. any hints or methods that you can do it this way legally ??

please kindly advise me.

Thanks..

Ian

hello everyone, new comer here :) my wife and me are both HK locals but my wife already a canadian citizen and she moved back to HK in 1997. we are now planning to move back to canada in the coming year so i am studying all the good stuff in here.

i am currently reviewing all the forms we need to submit and i am having some questions regarding the forms, they may be answered somewhere else so please pardon me. :)

the most daunting question for me is the how to provide proof that the sponsor (my wife) will certainly move back canada when the application is successful? obviously it is impossible to provide any job offers or house purchases if nothing is confirmed. she got a number of good friends in vancouver, and what i have read from here was that getting those friends to write letters to confirm she will come back to vancouver for good is enough, and some even said asking any friends that has a business in canada to write she would be hired (but in reality she didn't have such kind of friend). what would be good to provide?

How about the money that need to support ourselves in canada? we have a property in HK that can be sold, our MPF and provident funds, etc. are those enough proof?

i saw that many people need police certs or other documents to be provided much later after the application, may i ask whether is all the documents and forms should be provided at the same time? I only need to submit all the documents mentioned in IMM5491 and wait?

how do you send the photos that the sponsor and spouse been together? how MANY is enough? like every year? there may not be years engraved in the photos, is that OK?

we got married in vancouver a few years ago, so we can ask Vital Statistics BC to send a certified copy to Mississauga?

Sorry for so many questions, appreciate help from you guys :)

How is it impossible to purchase a house if nothing is confirmed? Similar to Hong Kong, there are pre-sale homes available in Canada! I know many Hong Kong people buys pre-sale condo and make it as investment if they don't want to live there.

It's actually pretty simple. You can either Land in a local cic office but they are always booked far ahead. Or you can just travel to states and come back. As for the copr you could get your family to mail it to you once it's done.

ditto

I am staying in Canada waiting for my PR as well, once when HKVO sends the PPR email if the applicant is in Canada the applicant can mail the passport to Ottawa instead of HKVO, that's another option for getting the visa and since the recent cases of sending passports to HKVO were taking forever to get them back, I will choose to send my passport to Ottawa instead.

There was a discussion in the forum about either HK EMS or Canada post lost his passport not long ago.

Good to know. Don't know you can send your passport to Ottawa. So once you have the passport request then you just send your passport to Ottawa directly? You don't have to fill out any forms or anything?

Hi All,

My status is application received.
I moved to BC with my family already mid of July 2015. I emailed HKVO July 07th before leaving HK with questions of changing my home address, what to tell Canada custom when entering YVR and my up-front expires in July, should I re do in HK before
leavingHK.

I got their email replied 3 wks after they re saying my application in progress, I should show my PR application to custom officer at Airport and wait for their further information. They didn't answer my upfront question.

My husband ordered GCMS notes beginning ofJune, it show my application transferred to HKVO since March 03th with updated my police on May 4th (2 weeks after I ordered in HK) without further moves. It surprised me!
About my upfront the GCMS extended till March 2016.

I arrived BC with my HK passport everything goes well, the only thing I am not able to apply SIN number and health card. All peoples are helpful from airport, container mover, hydro company, cell phone company incl. border service goods to follow officer! Others services like utilities, driving license and family grant and child benefits that runs well. Weather , living area and Air are perfect, I am willing to wait my PR here not going back HK. :p
I am about to do just that in about a week from now. It feels good to see your update! Thank you!!

HI JMO1968, what's your current application status? Are you in Canada or still in Hong Kong/China?

Sorry I gotta revise what I wrote, this applies to Hong Kong and Taiwan applicants, Mainland applicants should send the passport to Beijin VO regardless if the applicants are in Canada.

Applicants from Hong Kong SAR passport holders and Taiwanese should send the pdf of the passport of all pages to HKVO or original passport if sending to Ottawa CPC.

You have to send 2 or 3 pictures (according which passport the applicant holds), copy of the email, the address for the visa to be sent back, if you didn't pay RPRF (LANDING FEE, $490) you have to pay it and provide the receipt then, and this part I'm not sure but it seems like the Mainlander has to pay Beijin VO handling fee about 192.9 CAD.

My agent said for all HKSAR passport, no need to send the passport for getting the COPR. Only those mainland passport holder needs to send passport as they are not visa-exempt country, is that true? This can make me plan some trips to like Mexico while waiting the COPR....

if it is ture, I guess the idea is that if one don't need a Visa to come to CANADA, then don't need to send passport? I am from Beijing and currently have a working permit. I originally applied to Beijing Office, but on my AOR2, I was assigned to HKVO ( not transferred). that would be great if I don't need to send passport.

It is true, unless you choose to send it to Ottawa CPC, you can plan trips traveling just keep an eye on the email for the PPR. Everything has to be sent within 30 days.

As normal processing time for SA had passed last week, and no email or ECAS update yet I called CIC today after being told on Friday it was still being processed. Good news that I was told on phone I am approved as sponsor! My wife is in a part of Mainland China that was covered by the Hong Kong office even before the Beijing forwarding to Hong Kong changes. I will be following this forum topic and its spreadsheet closely while hoping it is less than 10 months. I will visit my wife in less than 4 months. :)

Today is 4 weeks since the Beijing VAC (the visa application centre run by VFS Global) received the (mainland) passport and yesterday this intermediary sent an email (actually, half a dozen repeated emails all saying the same thing) saying the passport was en route from the embassy back to their facility. Going online to use the VAC's tracking tool it said they had also forwarded it on: "Passport has been couriered from the Canada Visa Application Centre, on 29/07/2015 vide [sic] courier partner. To track the status of the shipment, please visit courier partner website."

Only problem was that they didn't provide a courier tracking number either there or in their email. So I emailed them to ask for a tracking number and got one fairly promptly. It didn't work on EMS' website yesterday but today it is actively tracking. There's some chance something could yet go wrong but I now think I can book a flight for a week from now, which would make for 10 days short of 10 months total from the file arriving at Mississauga to landing.
