Hi, just posting here as I just got notice that my spouse's application was being sent to Hong Kong (she is living in Taiwan but from the Philippines). Just wondering how fast (in general) the Hong Kong visa office is. Any idea on when I should be receiving aor2?

Here's my current timeline:

May 1 - Documents arrived at Mississauga
June 5 - Started working on application (sponsor)
June 6 - Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR1)
July 18 - Medical Request
July 20 - Approved as sponsor
July 23 - Medical Exam
July 31 - Passed Medical Exam (status updated on cic.gc.ca GCKEY)
August 3 - Notice of application transfer (to Hong Kong)
Our application transferred to Hong Kong last December and got approved in June this year

Hello everyone, Congrats to those received decision made PRs.

I would share my case and kinda unknown what to do next...

[Sponsor my wife] Self apply and submitted Application in late Oct 2017
1, Application received on Feb 1,2018
2, Request Medical Exam on Apr 16, 2018 and examined on Apr 19.
2.1, Passed the medical exam on Apr 20
3, Confirmed eligibility as a sponsor on Apr 25
4, Request Schedule A and Police Certificate on Jul 12, first time
4.1, Filled the Schedule A online and uploaded, but forget to transmit
5, Re-submit the Schedule A online via linked account and transmitted as well as uploaded the signed Schedule A form via IRCC web tools
6, Checked the Police department and confirmed to be sent the Police Cert on Aug 8
7, Received letter to inform the application is sent to HKVO today(Aug 23)

My questions are:
1) Unknown whether the Police Certificate has sent and received by CPC-Miss since Police dept send directly to CPC-Miss
2) My Police Certificate is sent to CPC office in Nova Scotia as posted in CPC website, is that right?
3) Any good or bad if application is carrying on in HKVO?
4) what will be next step?
5) If this is required to send the passport to visa office, any submission due? I am worry it will cross between my trip.
6) Anyone can help to interpret those short-term dragon such as AOR, PFL, etc...

Thank you very much for your helping.

Hi, I can’t answer most of your questions because we are not in the same application class, but I can explain those short terms for you:

AOR=approve of receive
PFL=procedural fairness letter, and this is something you wish you will never get, because there will be extra wait if you need to go through this process.

3) You don't really have a choice. In my opinion, HKVO was fast and the whole thing took a merely 9 months for completion.

Thanks and hope it is smooth.

For the whole application process, I am looking at this processing timeline as the guideline of application, hope this is helping!

Usually before BGC. They will send you an email or send you a message in your account (if you have linked). If your interview is successful, BGC gets started after. Very few people receive interview request after BGC.

Hello everyone,
I don't know if you guys have received this letter. I am applying for Spousal sponsorship for my husband. I have been living in China for 5 years , I am a hong kong citizen/ Canadian citizen. We are moving back next year, because we want a better life for our 3 year old daughter who is also a Canadian. I am a housewife, and they want my husband to quit his job in order to prove our motives of moving to Canada. what should we do? What are your experiences? Thank you.
Client Information:

- Credible evidence of your and your spouse’s plans to establish yourself and your family in Canada (i.e. house-hunting trips to Canada, job offers in Canada for each of you and your sponsor , plans to facilitate the establishment of your children, other settlement arrangements, etc.);

- Credible evidence that you and your spouse have severed, or have begun to severe, your ties to Hong Kong (or China) (i.e. Letter of Release from the HKSAR Inland Revenue Department or taxation authority for each of you and your sponsor, letter of resignation from current employer, sale or real estate sale listing of your home in Hong Kong/China OR termination of lease, evidence of transition of financial interests and assets from Hong Kong/China to Canada, sales or confirmed shipment of furniture, transition of financial interests from Hong Kong/China to Canada, disposal of other assets, etc.);

Note that the measures listed above are not exhaustive, and that you may show other forms of evidence that you AND your spouse have both made significant efforts and arrangements to settle yourselves in Canada, for the purpose of establishing and living there permanently. This must be received at this office by: 2019/01/05

As the letter says, it is crucial you provide as much proof as you possibly can before the deadline to convince the officer your intent to move to Canada. I would recommend you read through the previous posts in this thread first. As for personal experience wise, if you can't do a few of their recommendations such as selling the home and whatnot, you may try closing up bank accounts in HK/China and conversing with overseas banks and opening Canadian bank accounts. Best to have a transfer of funds to show that you moved money back and can afford to survive without putting a strain on Canadian welfare system. Submit those email/conversation, bank records. Aside from that, a resignation letter from your employer and Canadian job offer letters would be great help. Again, these are letters and not actual binding contracts. As your letter says, this list is not exhaustive. Almost forgot, living-wise, if you intend to stay somewhere, do provide proof you searched for place to stay or even a signed rental contract. If you plan to stay at an existing family's place, be honest and write a letter as to why you are not renting or buying a home (due to high prices, etc) and just provide that info. Time is of the essence so get started as soon as possible. Each assessment is handled differently but hope this helps!
