Seems the system is broken, no wonder they want to overhaul. I really hope they are aware of their incompetence and that they will step up to their goal this June.
Indeed it is frustrating, I’m on the same situation, my GC key is showing reviewing eligibility when in fact they sent it March 2020, my GC key is showing waiting for Biometric when it’s already showing on my profile. How can you explain my application is been sitting in idle for the last 11 months after passing my medical. The AOR’s and temporary files they are issuing right now doesn’t mean anything at all for me it’s just a pacifier so that applicants will get entertained, it’s been three weeks since they said they will work on our files and no one from the 2019 applicants even got an open work permit on this group.

I feel like they just collected money and then put everything on process so they will always have a reason. Application fee for a single person is more than $1K multiply that with 2,500 per year that will be lots of revenue without any result. Not to count the extra amount that we spent for all the testings and couriers fee. Same thing for the employers they have invested lots of effort and money.

Thanks for your update. May I know if you already completed your one year experience since you’re inside Canada? Because there’s a special PR pathway for essential worker that has minimum of one year experience only. Did you apply in that pathway?
no i haven’t completed my two years experience yet which is needed on the HSW pathway.

i have been working for the same employer more than a year.
i have not considered applying for the new pathway yet. I’m gonna wait til June, I’m hoping i’m one of those 1500 applicants

Isn't it, according to the pilot program the employment offer letter should be valid at the time of submission of application. Its because of their inability to process the application for two years they are asking for a new/updated offer letter. Instead they should be giving the Employment specific Open work permit. because they are the reason for the delay. They should facilitate by not asking for updated offer letter.

In the offer letter too it does not say the offer letter expires nor even in the form IMM5983. It only states duration in months and anticipated date. so the offer letter should not be considered expired. If they are asking the updated offer letter then they are really putting applicants under stress after waiting for painful near two years. That's harsh

That’s a good decision. And it’s until November 6 anyway. But I thought that 1500 applicants are only first stage (maybe that means they will only give an OPEN WORK PERMIT and not PR?). But if ever you won’t get any PR this June, I would suggest that you take advantage of that special pathway to PR.

I think it's only fair to give PR to apps waiting for almost 2 yrs. Other streams, e.g express entry, can be PR even without Canadian experience. I think caregivers should have equal opportunity. For example, express entry apps can apply due to "in demand" selected profession however, upon becoming a landed PR, they can choose any work. Most do jobs unrelated to the streams they initially applied, no one cares what you do thereafter.

Anyway, on a positive note, I do hope CPC Edmonton is hiring and/or training additional folks to look into our apps this month. Then 1st week of June will send a flurry of emails to the 1500 lucky winners! Yey

I understand your sentiment. But let’s face it, it won’t happen WITHOUT MONEY. Those people who applied thru Express Entry and other streams, HAVE MONEY, they spend thousands of dollar. I went here in Canada with only 2000$. Even refugee visa, they have to prove that they have something to offer like a professional doctor or something higher. Believe me, I met many students who spent LOTS of money for 4 years, and they cannot even get a PR. they cannot even give you a PR once you married a Canadian citizen, you need minimum of one year relationship to prove that it is really love and not after PR only. I’ve been here since 2018, and I know how PR works. If you want to get PR even without Canada experience, it’s possible WITH MONEY. Reality bites. One more thing, I am a professional nurse, but they want us to pass lots of requirements (and spend money again) to practice our profession.
so there you go, Canada is after money. Once you get here, you will understand me, why a professional nurse chose to scrub other people’s toilet bowl just to earn money and still without PR.

Hi just want share my knowledge as per conversation with IRCC representatives over the phone about couple of days ago. It seems like lot's of people have miscommunication about new special message from IRCC that all 2020 applicants will get the PR. Well answer to that question is "No". "Public Policy has clearly stated that caregivers who applied under the HCCP Class or the HSW Class in 2020, but whose application was not entered into processing due to delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic are going to be considered who meet the eligibility criteria and conditions listed below.

What this statement means? Well let's take an example around sometime in Nov 2020 (for e.g Nov 13, 2020) when IRCC announced that Home Childcare Provider Pilot has closed for new applications for 2020. Well at that point suppose they've counted the actual count of 2750 and after Nov 13, 2020 stopped receiving the caregiver applications and didn't inform anyone whose application was received after the 2750th count and year 2021 started and those applicants has still not been informed and found that 2021 quota has also reached and missed the opportunity to apply in 2021 as well. It only of those candidates IRCC has made this special announcement that those applications will be counted even they've reached the quota for 2020.

It doesn't mean what all three stream of 2020 will directly get the PR. Well those applicants who have applied under PR stream if they meet the eligibility criteria they'll get the PR, rest will get the work permit and will have to complete their 2 years experience to meet the eligibility criteria.

I hope it makes sense. Chao!
I don't agree when you said that the new public policy (3 May 2021) is for those who still applied after the 2020 cutoff (say Dec 2020). For one, they were informed given the fact that IRCC itself has announced in its website that they have reached the cap for 2020 in November 2020 and encouraged people to submit instead on January 2021. Second point, the public policy did not mention about excess quota for 2020 being the subject of the policy. Third, when IRCC said that the public policy will cover those applications both submitted and not processed in 2020, they also meant to include those who made it to the cap and received temporary letters saying their applications are still on the line for review (not yet processing stage).

I agree that just like in Express Entry, the 2020 HCCP and HSW applicants may be granted PR (even without Canadian work experience). The job offers of 2020 caregiver applicants can be the basis to ensure they perform caregiver work even after landing in Canada. Unlike those PR applicants in express entry who were evaluated based on their experiences abroad (say nurse) but would do other jobs once they get to Canada as a PR (grocery store personnel).
