Also don't forget the exchange rate in Cuba. In March it was 0.90 CUC for 1$ canadian. So 625 CUC for notary + 105 CUC = 730 CUC that means around 820$ canadian...

exchange rate could be an important factor. Don't forget to think about that when planning your wedding !

i pay 525 cuc for notary not 625 i have hear of people paying 625 , is it that because im cuban too or what?

it's for "stamps" they have to put on our papers.

for me there was 4 stamps at 20 CUC each

If I remember correctly there was:

1 for my birth certificate
1 for my birth certificate legalized at Cuban consulate
1 for my single status affidavit
1 for my single status affidavit legalized at Cuban Consulate

Also there's 5 stamps at 5 CUC each

The notary told me that this is new since the new law that took effect in January 2013 in Cuba.

So you better have extra money there to make sure you'll be ok.

Yes, if you have two divorce decrees, it's going to cost more.

That's why it's very important that you know exactly what to do, when to do and plan everything.

There's a good website that has been a real blessing for me. It's not up to date, but it'll help I'm sure.Thanks to the person who did it ! It's in French

I had to apply for CSQ in Quebec, and it'll take 1 month to receive as I can see, so I guess that from stage 2 AOR,
It'll be different for me.

Hope to have stage 2 AOR, always a relief to know they have our application and they opened it !

HI Sassy: We usually stay at Iberostar Ensenachos but since the marriage have not because it is a little close to her last job and she is nervous. We have been staying in Santa Clara and travelling all over. Hotel Americas is a newly renovated and the best hotel in Santa Clara. I recommend it highly. We have also stayed at a few casas in Santa Clara. I see that your file was transferred to Havana very close to the same time as my son's. We received AOR November 28th and then confirmation that it had arrived in Havana on December 10th. My son used the Immigroup consultants to help prepare his file. As soon as you hear something I will let my son know that they may be hearing soon. Let's hope time goes by fast for the two of you.

Hi Greeneyes, I am wondering if you can give me an idea of how much it cost your son to use this service? I will be starting the process by the end of October and am wondering if it would be a better idea to use someone. Your son seemed to have luck in getting his wife here sooner than alot of the people on the thread. If you could get back to me that would be great. Thanks

When I was preparing my papers for our marriage, I found a great Spanish speaking lawyer in Toronto that also does translations. He had everything prepared for me in 24hrs completed, notarized everything. I then went to the Cuban Consulate and they legalized everything for me then and there. The Consulate fees came to 760.00 - for me.
The lawyer is also going to translate all the Cuban documents for us for CIC application.

I have a non-immigration question... simply a Cuba vacation question. I'm hoping to get a last minute deal to Cuba this summer to go with my husband to a hotel. He's Dominican, but a return to Dominican Republic will be a way more expensive vacation than we can afford right now, so Cuba it is! (Going back to visit family and friends will be more time consuming and expensive!).
I only ever went to Cuba once and it was years ago, so I just had a question about the money there. I know for tourists they use the CUC. Can this be purchased here in Canada before we go to Cuba? Or do we have to wait until we get there? I hope our only option isn't on the resort because I'm sure they give a really bad exchange rate there.
I'm leaning more towards Varadero, if we can get a good last minute deal there. Does anyone know how long of a drive it would be to Havana from Varadero? Are there other "resort areas" that are closer to Havana than Varadero? I would love to go there, but don't know if my stomach could handle a super long drive on bumpy roads with a crazy bus driver.

You can't get CUC in Canada... we exchanged our money at the airport when we arrived.
Can't help you out on the remaining questions as I haven't been to Varadero in 13 years. Last vacations in Cuba were in Cayo Santa Maria
