LiaJoi,

Not sure how to properly reply to your reply. I'm well thanks.

Thanks for your reply and information. All of it was news to me and I appreciate you telling me about it. I passed it on to my husband in Cuba. I have been focusing so much over just getting the application proper and sending it in that I have not researched yet about the process now that it is in Havana.

I did receive an email from Havana saying on March 5 CIC received my application. I think that was the AOR.

From reading other people's experiences here and looking at some spreadsheets, it looks like it could only take a few more months for the visa.

It has been quite an emotional process!

Hello, yeah they received mine on march 28 for what they said,i dont really see how is that possible because thats when they received in missisuaga but i heard thats how they working now ,before they used to send those DND dates and stuff but not anymore, if we are lucky and without problem we should hear back in about 3 or 4 months hopefully lol, just tell your husband to make sure to go to the immigration and extranjeria office on his province and ask everything about the new rules and leaving the country thats what my husband did,I also told my hubby to go by again once he got his visa because rules in cuba always change i dont want to buy a plane ticket and once hes at the airport they tell him something is missing lol well keep me posted if you hear from the visa office i hope you have a fast process :)

Nothing new for us ?

I should have my CSQ by the end of the week or next week.

My phone is still blocked in Cuba, so I still cant send SMS to my wife using my regular phone.
It's so hard...but I hope the visa will soon come so we can have a normal life together.

Keep the faith !

Just a little update..

Got my CSQ from Quebec last week and phone is working again !

Now, we just have to wait for final decision. No new update on ECAS.

Everyone else, something new ?

;D Hello everyone,

I'm in my early approach to bring my husband to canada from cuba (ohhh boy, what an obstacle course :o), as i was looking for info. i fell on this recent forum! And was exited to find someone who will kindly be able to help me answer my questions.

1- In the CIC site i was looking for the official address for the sponsored hospital where my husband would have to go to do his medical exam. It seems there is no more official hospital. Does anyone knows?

2- Can my husband go to Las tunas hospital( he is from Holguin) or is it still the Hospital Hermanos Ameijeiras in havana?

3- Some say the medical exam is no charge and other info say that it is $400. wich they say will pay for the PRE. So how much does it really cost? or is it free...( that would be to good to be thrue especialy in Cuba :P)

4- In regard to the latest changes facilitating immigration in Cuba, is the PRE still necesary?
Is the carta blanca still necessary? They have said that they would let any cuban leave if they received a visa from other country.

Thank you for your answers in advance.

Hi, here's what I can tell you:

1- As far as I know the "official hospital" is still Hospital Hermanos Ameijeiras in havana. My wife went there in February and she did her exam without problem. I would call there
if I were you to make sure it still the official hospital and what your husband needs to bring for the medical exam.

2- I dont know if he can go to Holguin, before everyone had to go to Havana.

3- The medical exam is free. My wife went there and there was no charge. The 400CUC you are talking about was for the PRE, but not required now.

4- My wife went to immigration in Cuba last month, and she doesnt need the PRE as long as she returns to Cuba inside 2 years. So if your husband gets his visa and comes to Canada,
as long as he return to Cuba between the time he gets in Canada and the end of 2 years here, there wont be any problem. Of course, when he'll go back to Cuba, he'll be able to come back here
and get an other 2 years.

Carta blanca is not required anymore also. They checked my wife in the computer at immigration and told her that as soon as she gets her Visa from Canada, she's free to take
an airplane to come here the same day.

Hope this can help, and things seems to change often, so make sure you do your research on your side also, just in case

Hi everyone,

My husband was refused his PR in 2009.
Reasons: Havana thinks marriage of convenience.
We appealed (without lawyer) big mistake! Denied.
We are ready to reapply.
Now we have a lawyer, and been married over 5 years.
Hopefully this time will be it.
Take care and good luck!

Hi everybody,
Our file was submitted May 3,2013

I have a question, does Havana email or send letter once they have received the file?

I feel lost ::)

Liajoi,

Hope things are well with you.
I am Canadian and my husband is from Camaguey.
I will keep in touch throughout the process.
God knows we all need support and a good forum like this one to help us through the storm.

Take care

localola,

Years ago Havana sent a letter AOR. Acknowledgement of receipt.
However, it takes a few months for the letter to arrive. You would probably know the outcome of your application by then.
Havana is still working pretty fast.

Yes, I got AOR from Havana by email a few weeks after SA from Mississauga.
