Hi everyone.I had dinner with a friend i knew she worked for immigration Canada but just found out she lived in Toronto recently via a search on facebook. So we went out for dinner to catch up.I knew her from Nova Scotia years ago.
So i did quiz her a lot,and got a lot of ansewrs to everything i asked but the most interesting was, when i asked her about why it takes such a long time for some more than others in the same office and both have pretty straight forward apps.
Like i have been saying for a bit about the revisit date was the biggest thing. She said each office gives different revisit dates. One office might give a two week date other offices a month date.So if you are wondering why your ap is taking longer than someone elses but you both applied around the same time at the same visa office. Her answer was if one applicant forgot one document, and the visa office has to send a request for that document, they send the letter and put the file back in the file cabinet with a revisit date, two weeks to a month. When they look in the computer to see whos app is next,it pops up a file number and go get that file to proceed on it.So if your revist date is June 30th and the IO goes into the computer on June 30th your file number pops up,it says docs requested then the IO looks to see if the docs are now in the file. They examine the docs,if it is a medical redue they have to get the results from the medical office just like they did the first time.If it is a new police report they have to send it to the security office that does the police reports and wait back for the results. So now again your file goes into the file cabinet again with a new revisit date to wait for the results from the medical office or the security office.
So you can see why it takes longer for some than others.I told her well thats where Mississauga is not doing their job at all.Because they are the ones who are suppose to check to see if all is in the app before it goes to the visa office correct?Well thats not all that true either.Mississauga checks to see if the key points are signed by parties and if the app includes the pages that are suppose to be there. And they check to make sure fees are paid.
She said if Mississauga was to check each page of every app it would be 6 months before it was sent to the visa office.
And of course she said marriages of convienece are more proned from certain countries than others hense the different process times. And security checks take longer in some offices than others as they out source that part.
I ask what was th emain reason for refusals, she said not enough proof, she said even if you went to another country to get married and you had to leave not long after the marriage take a lot of pictures in the time you do have,of everything, even if you went to the mall together snap photos of it.They want to see you doing things together no mater how small it is.If you go for dinner, snap pictures of you eating together,if your on a bus in a car snap pictures.
I asked if they read emails and look at the photos, read letters, she said that is one of the biggest and most time consuming part. They do read your emails, they do read letters from family and friends, and for contact after the wedding, cards for holidays birthdays, and what ever else. They want to see emails that you are still talking after the marriage.
There was so much more but i could type for days.
But the main thing was to find out why apps take longer than others.
I hope this helps some people who are wondering why someone on here has got their PPR and you didnt but you applied with in days of eachother in the same visa office.

that explains the delays then in some cases...tha was pretty good info=) thanks..i was just wondering though, if the case is in doubt, do the IO's actually send a team to investigate if the marriage IO's for reals or fake..i have seen a lot of genuine cases suffer because of some cheaters out there...

I have seen cases where a field investigation was done. The visa office sent people to the applicant's home or village to verify things.
The ones I remember: one in China where they sent people to the applicant's house to see who she was living with, because they suspected she was still living with her first husband.
One in Vietnam: they sent people to talk to the applicant's brother, who was living in her parent's house.
Several in India: they sent people to the village where the wedding took place to see if the celebration was real.
One in Canada: they went to the apartment where the applicant and sponsor were supposedly living together, to check that they were actually sleeping in the same bedroom.

Thanks for the information, iarblue! Keep in contact with her and keep pumping her for info for us.

A field investigation would be done before the passport request, as part of their investigation into whether the relationship is real.
I don't think they usually bother to do a field investigation, though, because of the cost and time. They're just a possiblility.

An investigation could also be done after the passport request, or even after the PR visa is issued and the person is in Canada, if they get new information that fraud has occurred.

Hi, have a question...I got the approval from Canadian Immigration to sponsor my husband from Georgia. Now the file was sent to Ankara Visa Office for visa processing. I wonder how long does it take and will they ask for interview?

Ankara processes applications in 3 to 8 months. They often ask for an interview, but you can't know whether they will ahead of time. If your application included a lot of proof that your relationship is genuine, you and your spouse are similar (in age, education, ethnic background, religion, social background; and the same race), and there are no complicating factors (such as previous marriages, children, previous attempts to enter Canada), then the application will probably be done faster, and an interview is less likely to be required.

Thank you very much for information... One more question: I left Canada to stay here in Georgia with my husband and wait for his visa... somebody had told me that this may help to get the visa faster... wonder, if it true.... thank you in advance :)

I think, most of the time, field investigations are done when the VO can "smell something fishy" with the application..cos quite frankly, these folks don't have much time to check on every tom dick and harry's application...

Btw, Canadianwoman, how's your hubby's application coming along...i kinda remember you guys were having some problem with the application...hope all's well=)

Thanks. Our appeal is on July 6, so I'm getting kind of nervous.

To NANKA: Staying with your husband might make the application go faster, because if you are living with him this is good evidence that your relationship is genuine. The more evidence the visa officer has that the relationship is real, the less likely they are to call for an interview, or spend a lot of time investigating. No interview = faster processing time.

On the contrary, our application was rejected cz my wife was staying with me in my country after turning in the application. The reason stated in the rejection letter was that they were not convinced that the sponsor would return to Canada if they grant PR to me, the husband (applicant). They wanted accommodation lease proof/ job guarantee, etc. if the citizen is not living in the country! Good Luck to u all! U can read my detailed post for better understanding, Sub: Applied - Rejected - Re-applied at CHC - New Delhi. Story so far....

Yes, NANKA, this is one problem with staying with your husband in his country. You then have to prove that you will go back to Canada and stay with him when he gets his PR visa. Form 5540 - the Sponsor Questionnaire - question 11 asks "Are you currently living in Canada?" If the answer is 'yes', fine; if the answer is 'no', you have to give the date you plan to return, the address where you plan to live, details of your plans to reestablish yourself in Canada, and proof. Examples of the kind of proof they want are listed there.
Still, if you filled in the form correctly, you should have sent this proof in. If you didn't send this proof in, I suggest you go back to Canada before your husband has his interview. He can then talk about his plans for when he joins you in Canada, and show the visa officer proof that you were visiting him in Georgia, but are now back in Canada.
