Hello everyone, I've always viewed this forum but now is my first time commenting. I applied HNC July 2018 and I'm still waiting. I haven't received an AIP yet however background check is processing. My grounds for applying were:
(1) Establishment in Canada
(2) Hardship in home country
(3) Best interest of children

The wait is very frustrating and unpredictable. Does anyone knows the approximate timing for background checks?

Your SIN will remain the same till you get the PR.
Medical, I read you can apply but as of my case in Quebec I need Quebec selection first.
Your work permit with AIP will be valid for 2 years.

I'm still using the refugee paper for my work permit and it's for a year. I just reapplied in January.

Do I need to call the IRCC call center to update it?

Please, any Ontario residents with AIP should shed more light. Can I apply for OHIP with AIP?

I came as a student in 2015. I studied from 2015-2016. In late 2016 I got a pgwp (postgrad work permit) until 2017. I worked in the field I studied. 2017 I did the English test and was in the express entry pool but didn't get enough points to get the ITA (invitationtoapply). Late 2017 I applied to go back to college and got approved but didn't go because I got pregnant. Had my baby 2018 and applied HNC.

I didn't call IRCC to inform them i got AIP they knew already and provided me with 2 years work permit

Not sure how this is ripping people off? If someone doesn’t have provincial insurance or private insurance how do you expect these costs to be absorbed? The medication, medical staff, tests, etc. cost money. Canada’s private hospital rates are actually quite reasonable. This would like
y be a million dollars in the US and the hospital may have refused treatment. If Canada allowed any FN to get free healthcare many would arrive and the wait time’s and taxes for Canadians would go up.

We had insurance but they didn't cover as it is a long term treatment. Luck matters.

We were 3 with you we are 4 ppl of 2018 waiting for Aip

that’s weird usually back ground check from 45 days up to 6 months
My background check took 3 months
Maybe the officers working on our file s/he doing everything different then other’s
hang in there

My application is in Toronto since last April 2020 and that's when I saw in process. I believe background checks started between late December to early January.

H&C? Has your status changed to IN PROCESS? This is a first sign that your file is in work at least.

Yes, our application moved to process back in November 2020.

Hi guys ... is everyone waiting on COPR should recieve a call from IRCC asking about his address before finalizing his COPR? .. like they should ask everyone or it depends on every case or officer?

We were asked to confirm our address... So i think they usually ask if you have had multiple addresses on profile or if you recently moved...
