You should be able to but they might not approve it since you are showing the intention of staying in canada permanently,in order to get approved for a visitors visa you must satisfy the visa officer that you are here temporarily,I would say file for a visitor record extension just before your TRV expires and mention in the application that you are unable to leave before your H and C application is decided, consult with a good immigration consultant before going to this route, hope it helps..,,
Thanks, this is helpful :)

Hi, I'll will highly appreciate if someone can recommend a reliable immigration lawyer in GTA who can help prepare a case to have my old age parents come to Canada from India on compassionate grounds. Or if someone can help me in self preparing a good case on compassionate grounds. Thanks
Having parents that are older does not guarantee that they can get PR in Canada. Parent sponsorship is not guaranteed. If denied it will be very difficult for them to visit Canada in the future. I would also expect reforms to H&C system to address the volume of people in general applying & those trying to sponsor their parents not using the PGP program. Canada is getting tough on immigration and can’t deal with needs of current seniors.

According to the new immigration target IRCC will only approve 10000 H and C applications for the year 2025,is it too little?

H&C was really meant for very exceptional situations while it has become a program that everyone applies to because they don’t have other options or are not willing to wait to get selected for other programs. Canada has been overly generous with their immigration programs and will now have to course correct and become much tougher so people need to expect that it will become more difficult to get PR and not everyone will receive PR.

What do you mean people are not willing to wait,I know people are waiting for 10+ years to qualify for PGP still they cant because of that stupid lottery program and the ex-conservative government created this mess by blocking the PGP program in 2009 when there was no shortage of doctor, nurses in canada,it was based on pure racism nothing else and what did they got by doing it?is Canada’s health system better now?I am sure its not,and if waiting 10+ years doesnt qualify someone for some programs I am not sure what else will, and Canada surely hasnt been very generous when it comes to the point of family reunification, look at out neighbour USA,their PR holders can bring their parents within 6 months and here we are cant bring our parents even after staying here for 10+ years, and I am pretty sure canada wasnt like this when my grandparents migrated here in the early 90s/before conservatives took power in 2006…

Canada provides a lot more financial benefits and access to services than the US to parents who immigrate. Parent sponsorship was never guaranteed. There are people who have applied for H&C for their parents while not even applying for PGP yet. Canada has accepted a very large number of immigrants compared to the US as a percentage of population. There was never going to be a way for everyone to have their parents move to Canada. Shouldn’t taxpayers have access to services before we accept those who have never paid taxes and likely never will? Healthcare has partially gotten worse due to the volume of immigration and our ageing population. Seems crazy to add more seniors when we can’t meet needs of existing seniors many who are immigrants who worked and paid taxes for decades.

I dont agee with you, tell me one benefit(other than healthcare) that canada is offering to sponsored parents and grandparents?the sponsor needs to be financially responsible for 20 years for the sponsored parents/grandparents,by the time comes to get any benefits from the government, most of the parents/grandparents will pass away, they will have to stay in canada atleast 10 years to be eligible for cpp whereas in USA they start getting pension and old age security+medicare right after turning 65,doesnt matter how long they have been there,I know this because most of my relatives live in the usa,and here I am ,cant even make my mother a permanent resident, she is here almost 8+ years now and not even eligible to see a specialist(forget about (CPP+ medicare or other benefits),Canada’s treatment to its citizens foreign born parents is inhuman, uncivilized and unacceptable,I sometimes regret why I have chosen Canada over the USA.

Dear Canuck I would like to let you know that today I got an offer from social housing but I refused it because the unit was far from up north no access to public transit so I refused the unit and I told my caseworker next time you have to offer a unit at least close to enmities.
This was in Chatham Kent, ON
So we need this NDP , liberal government too keep up providing everything to make better life in Canada so yea

What is your source for this Ibrahim?
Is this for people who are applying in 2025, or does it include people who applied before?
Hi,

Here are the announced targets: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/supplementary-immigration-levels-2025-2027.html

Targets = landings, or grants of permanent residence if you prefer. But what does that mean?

It means that if there are 20,000 positive H&C cases finished stage 2 and ready for landing, they're limited in how many to actually grant status to in a given time. They're not supposed to exceed the maximum.

It includes everyone that has an application for PR approved. On this site, in many categories people ask when they'll be landed because everything is ready, and it can be that the targets have been met for the calendar year.

Ibrahim asks, "is it too little?" The government says, it is what it is.
