Question? I have a friend that claimed refugee and was accepted. She is now a Canadian Citizen but for some reason whenever she travels they keep pulling her aside and questioning her..they said that the refugee red flag is still at her name and that she should contact IRCC ( She did but they are just giving her run around) how can she get whatever it is removed now that she is a Canadian Citizen?

No, she has all the right to go to her home country..She can use her Canadian passport or her foreign passport to enter there..
Don't worry

The question was not about her rights to go home, it was; if anyone has other idea how to remove that flag to avoid being pulled to secondary examination several times at the border

Hello Everyone, please kindly advise. I got an ITA in September and will soon submit my application. I have a valid resident visa in the UK till 2025 and in addition I applied for Humanitarian Protection in May 2023 due to threat to my life and that of my family in my home country. However, I'm not on any government support or benefit as I have a valid skilled worker visa and I am allowed to work. Please will this affect my PR application to Canada? I already explained my situation in the PR application under the statutory declaration, though I have not submitted. I just want to know if it will negatively affect my Federal Skilled Worker- PR application.

But it is illegal to do this kind of examination with a Canadian citizen!!! He is no longer a protected person or a permanent resident because he had protection, he is a Canadian citizen

It is NOT Illegal to do any secondary examination conducted by Border Services for all arrival including Canadian Citizen when there's a flag or for any other reason. What poster needs to do, is sending Webform and calling IRCC to ensure the flag is removed. It needs to be removed by IRCC

Usually when you apply for refugee protection, IRCC flag you on gcms that triggers Border officers to move traveler to secondary examination. Legally, they want to ensure refugee is in compliance with sec 108 of IRPA. Fast forward after becoming Canadian Citizen, that flag does not automatically removed, it will still be there and you need to reach out to IRCC requesting it to be removed. At primary examination, because of massive arrival of travelers, guideline ask them to expediate arrivals if there is no issue, if there is, then it needs to be addressed at secondary examination. Secondary examination may apply to all, Including Canadian Citizens through in-person or automatic kiosk.

Thanks for this information. I saw in another group where somone had to write to IRCC and CBSA also their MP sent a letter as well and after seven months the flag was removed. My friend informed me that even if she goes to another country they give her a hard time when she returns to Canada. I thought the flag would be against her home country that she asked for protection from but it seems that's not the case sigh
