I received a letter stating I need to go back for more medical! It's dated April 22 -- before I even sent in my application for PR. I don't understand that.

I'm so upset. I can't afford to fly back to Dallas from here (Newfoundland) to get this done. And there's only 2 places here to do it. Both are 6 hours away plus costly to fly to.

Dang it!

You can go at any approved CIC doctor in Nfld. You don't have to go back to Dallas. There are 2 doctors in St. John's.

That's the 2 I mentioned in my post. They are 6 hours away by car. Hubby says gas would be very costly not to mention time consuming (counting the round trip plus time at the doc's office). Flying is costly also. We are both upset over this.

Would there be another charge on top of the fee we already paid in Dallas?

I did read this on the "Panel of Physicians" page:

If the nearest Panel Physician offering services in your preferred official language is located more than 250 kilometres or 4 hours from where you live, please contact the CIC Call Centre at 1-888-242-2100 to find out how to access immigration medical examination services in your preferred official language.

Not sure if that would apply to me or not. ??

Give that a try. Can't hurt to give it a shot.

But I am surprised that there isn't one on the west coast of Nfld.

I will try after while and post back the outcome.

The only major medical facility, on the west coast, is in Corner Brook. Big political issue here, as anyone with cancer has to travel to St. John's for treatments plus find lodging for the time it takes for the treatments. Gah.

Benni ,do you do an xray and blood work when you had your first medical .Have you asked them why they are calling you back ,since its not immigration. I would definitely call them and ask .

taffy7, I am going to call the Dallas office, they should be open soon. Yes, I did xray, bloodwork, lots of other things -- I felt they were very thorough.

is the office or CIC asking you to retake it? either way if they are asking you to retake it, it is for a good reason, either a second opinion etc. i think driving 6 hours might be cheaper than flying all the way back here to Dallas.

That's strange , they have screwed up somewhere . You have the copies of your paper work.Let us know . Good luck ! :)

Your going to scare her half to death with that comment ;) Lets hope its just paper work that they have misplaced and nothing negative.
Benni hadn't even sent the paper work in for P.R. before they requested for this to be done again.

oh sorry not meaning to, but i remember a while back when i was intending to do my medical in Toronto..i was asked to come back to the dr office to retake a test cuz one lab number came back too high..i retook it and all was ok..

Aw the poor thing , it's so stressful all this immigration stuff. Its costly too.I don't think they would charge again. Its the distance that is a pain.We have to look at it in the long run it will be all worth it .Benni will let us know as soon as she knows. :)

I was also asked to go back to a CIC approved panel physician after I took my medical exam and even before I filed my application. With me, there was a spot on my lung which they suspected as TB. I went back to where I had done the medical exam previously and the doctor was able to access my file. CIC had ordered for me another X-ray and sputum tests. I did the sputum test and the second X-ray 3 months after my initial one. All came back negative. According to my GCMS notes, I passed my medical.

You should go to the neared CIC approved panel physician. If they want additional tests, they won't approve your medical unless you comply with their request. There must be something they saw on your results and want to investigate more.

CIC is asking me to re-take it. Calling the doc in a few minutes -- will post back.

Ok...... I called but the lady who handles all of the immigration medical stuff won't be in until 5p (7:30p my time). *sigh*

Will call then and post back. Thank you all for your support. ((HUGS))
