Got laid OFF. Can I apply EI , Will it effect my PR application

Hi ,

I am an express candidate and waiting for invitation to apply PR but after working 1 year 8 months, I got laid off due to shortage of work and I looking for another job but it will take easily 1 month to find another job. My question is if I start getting EI but down the road , I get invitation to apply PR, Will that effect my PR application because I stayed on EI for 1 or 2 months. If anyone being through this scenario, please reply and thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that.

If you didn't have an LMIA then it shouldn't affect your application.

The only way it could affect your application is if you had an LMIA and then had to recalculate your points after losing your job.

I don't think EI is a factor at all in your application (although please anyone correct me if I'm wrong).
