As I have been saying and will continue to say.
I think we should communicate these things to CIC even if we will do it anonymously or create an email address like pgwp@yahoo.com or something.
We can also even create a dummy twitter account to inform them.
It doesn't make logical sense that Phd and PGWP holders are screwed.

My spirit tells me they are probably not aware of these things. Now that the system is still fresh, we can seek their counsel on the matter.
Whether you like it or not, international students contribute to their economy even if its in a little way, we keep the schools in Business!

There is nothing wrong in trying!

there is psychological difficulties and a lot of pressure on me too in this situation. I work in a company of 2 full time employees (me and my boss). first of all, my boss doesn't like to spend money to a point where a piece of paper wasted by mistake upsets him. And here he'll have to unexpectedly spend a grand or more and what for? That wasn't the part of the original arrangement since before hiring me, the Office of Multicultural Affairs reassured him that he didn't have to get LMIA since I had an "open" work permit (!!!). I can only imagine how upset he gets after I tell him this. Secondly, he doesn't like change to a point where he never travels or renovates his house etc. and if he does, he has to ask a million questions and plan everything 18 months ahead. I can only imagine the stress he gets into when I tell him this. Thirdly, his family helped me a lot when I had to move from another province, I stayed in their house for free for a month, for example. And he said to someone that he is sponsoring me to Canada, making me feel like I owe him. Now imagine if I ask for this stupid LMIA, oh, that would be such pain in the a///:mad: and to crown it all, we are going to be just super busy in feb. :( like that LMIA is no way possible in feb. :(
I understand your situation. You are in a race now, you have to try to win this race within the lawful boundaries. Tell him the fact and it wont cost him any money, its free of cost. If you don't tell him now then you might be cursing yourself in the end or may be the whole life and he might be telling you that why you didn't inform him in the beginning. Do anything to inform him, write letter or email or whatever is easy for you. Its time to kill your inner fear. Its a do or die situation bro. In worst situation he won't agree and he might start looking for your replacement but good for you to remove the question mark from your head forever.

LMIA is free of cost but in my understanding it costs more for job posting on websites. Correct me if i'm wrong

Good question and your question lead me to another question that did the company fulfill the advertising requirement when they were looking to fill the position one year before OR they would have to re-advertise the position again if they are doing LMIA for the guy who is already working on that position on PGWP. If you read the LMIA form in detail you will understand my question.

As you may or probably not :D have read, I have been particularly shafted by the rule change between PR CEC 2014 application to EE PR application 2015. I've lived in Canada for 2.5 years on a TWP and my job actually involves me dealing with all Federal and Provincial Governments across Canada. As much as I like this sort of fighting talk, please take some advice from a man who knows. As amazing as a country Canada is to live in, this is the most paper-chasing bureaucratic Fed/Prov Govt I've ever dealt with so any sort of 'challenge' against their rules is a complete waste of time. Accept their rules and find a way to get as many points as you can. ;)

Yes they did posted job on websites and also interviewed canadian residents. But when I called cic they agent told me because I have never had LMIA before so my employer has to do the whole process again and rehire me.

Another scenario when u select LMIA for Residence (no cost) it mentions in the bracket that employer cannot hire the worker untill the residence application has been completely processed and the residence has been issued. What are we suppose to sit at home for 6 months.

CIC, SERVICE CANADA, EDSC no one could give me an answer for this and kept asking me to call cic or sc or edsc

Each agent has their own story

I agree with you specially on the statement "this is the most paper-chasing bureaucratic Fed/Prov Govt".

Exactly and ultimately that means we are screwed. In my case, I am part of the union so my company cannot fire me or even ask me to leave the job and then wait for a month until the advertisement requirement is fulfilled and then re-hire me. They would simply say dude this is the case and it would fall totally on myself. I would either start looking for another job with another company which would agree to do LMIA for me in the beginning or have to wait for CIC to cut off scores and if it doesn't happen then start packing my stuff and go back home.
And I assume majority of the folks would be in same situation.

Exactly and most importantly we were hired for open work permit (less headache for employer) but now we need LMIA and I have no hopes from CIC to bring the ITA score coz till next draw there will be alot more people with LMIA or PNP so we might stay at the same spot in the pool.

But again you never know what they will do.

If you refer to ESDC website. Last year in june they exempt job advertisement requirement for LMIA if candidate was earlier working on post graduate work permit.
See:http://www.esdc.gc.ca/eng/jobs/foreign_workers/higher_skilled/students/index.shtml

No, last year they REMOVED the exemption from advertising the job for PGWP candidates.

Hi There, I just got my ITA - One of the 779 first draw candidates. I had already applied for the arranged employment application - Can i still use the same application fee or a new application fee will be paid, any suggestions.
