You can leave Canada again 15 days after landing. You can apply for a PR travel document in order to return to Canada.
However, if you will be receiving your PR card at a friends address, there is no law that forbids your friend from mailing it or having it couriered to you. (For those who say this is against the law, please link to the law in question because I do not know of one).
When adding a spouse before landing, you do not have to prove that it is a genuine marriage because you are immigrating together. However, a spouse with a back ground problem or a medical problem can prevent you from immigrating. The pros are that it generally doesn't take as long and you go to Canada together.
If you opt to land first and sponsor your spouse later, you are separated for longer because in most cases, the spouse has to stay in your home country while you stay in Canada as a sponsor, that is unless your spouse can get a visit visa. The pros are that your spouse can not be denied because of an excessive demand medical condition. The cons are that you have to prove that it is a genuine marriage and that as a sponsor, you are responsible for your sponsored spouse for 3 years after they get their PR. Should your spouse leave you and go on welfare or disability in Canada during this time, the Canadian government will come after you to refund them the money.
