Hi,

I remember you were doing this process from India I guess. Where did you send your COPR and passport. I am in the same boat as you, Submitting all docs on Monday. I asked them where to send the passport and COPR. Can you advise please.
Hey... were you given a deadline to submit your passport and COPR back or you waited till they sent you a new PPR before you sent your passport for the second stamping. Thanks

I recently got married and just added my wife to my application before landing.

Have already been issued a VISA & COPY as a single applicant.

However, when I got to the point of submitting I didn't get any prompt to make payment for RPF and processing fee which would normally be the case at least i remember that when i was submitting my 1st application and you also get card details to complete the payment.

In short, this case was different and my application was submitted without making payments for both the processing fees and the RPRF.

However, I have escalated this issue to my local visa office to advice of a portal where I can make such payment and same be included in my application accordingly.

I just hope this won't be an issue. Anybody in the house with such experience?

** Getting Married after 3 months of PPR email **

I received my PPR email today and have 30 days of time to submit my passport (till 12th July). However, am about to get engaged on 5th July and get married on 17th August. I would like to have PR for my wife too so that we can land together.

1. Should I inform to CIC now about this? If so, what will happen to my application? (Please note that marriage is still more than 2 months from now)

2. My medicals will expire on 7th December 2018 by which I doubt whether my wife's PR would get processed and our landing to be done. What can be done about this?

3. What best can I do now to make this processed with least delay?

My COPR as a single status is going to expire on 28 Aug 2018. I will be getting married on 16 Jul 2018. I will inform them on the same day about my marital status change.

My questions are:

1. Am I giving them sufficient time to inform as I have kept only 1 month buffer before my PR expires ?

2. I got PCC done for my spouse but unable to get the Upfront medical exam done for her as the hospital is asking for visa letter or medical request form. Since we are not married yet, unable to request hospital also. After we get marriage certificate, will the hospital accept my request to do medicals for my spouse based on my PR visa & COPR ? OR do I have to wait for request from CIC to get medical done for spouse and then show this form to hospital will then they accept my request ? I am basically trying to reduce time for my spouse medicals.

3. Me and my spouse reside in different cities. So, after getting marriage certificate, my spouse can get her medical done in her city itself or she has to take medicals in my city ( if I want to get upfront medical done for my spouse because she has no visa or any other form to show to hospital) ?

Pls reply urgently ! Thanks.

@mayurd I know you only wanted to understand the requirements and process of adding your spouse to your application, but all queries, I believe, had been answered by the good members of this forum.

1) Basically, you will only inform CIC about your marriage after the actual marriage, be it a court/civil wedding or traditional marriage ceremony.

2) Raise a CSE, or email CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca or your local VO (if known), then wait for their reply on how to send your spouse’s documents, either by email or through your CIC account. Wait time will take 1 day to 1 month. I got mine in less than 24 hours.

3) More or less, this will be the reply you will receive, and the document checklist too:

To advise us of a change to your family composition, please send us a signed letter via mail or email, providing us with all required changes to your file. The following information must be included in the letter if we are to make the changes:

- full name,
- date of birth,
- file number [Letter followed by a nine-digit number],
- telephone number, including area code,
- mailing address

As we require your signature on this information, please note that your current family composition has not been amended in our records.

How to add your spouse to your application:

In order to add your spouse to your application, we require the following documents:

· Updated IMM0008 Generic form and updated IMM5406 “Additional Family Information” form for yourself

· Schedule A Background Declaration form, and a Family Information form completed and signed by your spouse

· Processing fee for your spouse (if accompanying you to Canada)

· Notarized copy of the birth certificate of your spouse

· Copy of your spouse’s valid passport

· Two recent passport-size photographs of your spouse according to the specifications

· A copy of your marriage certificate and marriage registration

· A few wedding photographs

· Police clearance certificates for any country in which the spouse has resided in for 6 months or more since turning 18

(see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp for more information)

· The Right of Permanent Residence Fee will need to be paid before a visa can be issued to your spouse (if accompanying you to Canada)

· A “Certificat de Sélection du Québec” for your spouse ( in his or her name), if you wish to immigrate to the province of Québec (http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/index.html)

Copies of the original documents with original certified translations into English or French are required.

The required forms can be downloaded at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5406E.PDF

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5669E.pdf

4) The wedding photographs that you have been asking around the forum are any picture taken during the marriage ceremony (traditional, court, etc). If you do not have any single picture taken, explain it.

5) Medical exam is not on the list but your spouse can take an upfront medical exam just like when you had your medicals. Upload the Medical Information Sheet with the documents above. Otherwise, you will be ask to submit it at a later time.

I hope this helps you and other members adding their spouse in the future. All the best to you.

I recommend to wait.
In couple of scenarios where Primary Applicant Medicals expiring soon- IRCC processed the application little quicker and asked the applicant whether they can land before expiry of medicals.
They extended medicals expiry date in few scenarios.
If they ask for medicals do it then. At least you will know your application is in process.

My questions are:

1. Am I giving them sufficient time to inform as I have kept only 1 month buffer before my PR expires ?
1 month duration would be enough.

You can request for Medicals as upfront, just as we did for Express entry PR. You/your spouse have to mention "he/she is applying for Express entry hence need medicals". If it doesn't work, better to wait for medical request from IRCC.

3. Me and my spouse reside in different cities. So, after getting marriage certificate, my spouse can get her medical done in her city itself or she has to take medicals in my city ( if I want to get upfront medical done for my spouse because she has no visa or any other form to show to hospital) ?
It doesn't matter in which city medicals completed.

Pls reply urgently ! Thanks.

Yelly,
It completely depends on Visa Office and the spouse information (may be Travel history or for some people security checks take time).
Generally it takes 4-5 months but varies from person to person and VO to VO.

Your spouse can perform upfront medicals, but you already sent the documents I would wait for medical request.

Hi, I am a newbie here.
Can seniors or experienced folks help me answering my questions? Thank you in advance.

I have got my stamped passport and COPR as a single guy.
My medicals are getting expired in 2 months.
I am getting married 1 month from now.
I have sent a CSE and have also sent an email to CPC Ottawa. Can some one please tell me -
1) As soon as I get a reply from CIC to upload the additional documents for spouse , will they ask me in the same letter to return my passport and COPR OR am I supposed to send my passport & COPR along with my Wife's passport when she gets her passport request?
I am unable to understand if I will get my new COPR and stamped passport with my Wife's COPR and stamped passport OR should I send mine separately and hers separately?

2) Is it my resposibility to get the medicals done for myself as it is expiring OR will CIC tell me to get my medicals done ? should I wait for their notification? because for sure my medicals will be expired by the time my case is updated and COPR is valid as long as medicals are valid.

can anyone please tell me the step by step process after sending the Case specific enquiry? or can you point me to some post that answers my questions? Any help is appreciated. thanks again!

Wish everyone all the best in their new journey!

Hi Gowtham,

Need your urgent advice !
I got married on 23rd June 2018 and informed CIC Ottawa office and got reply within 24 hours on 27th June 2018. They updated spouse documentation letter in my CIC account and gave me 30 days to upload all docs in my CIC account (last date is 27th July 2018). My questions are:

1. I didn't update New Delhi VO through CSE/IRCC web form. Hope it is not an issue ?
2. In my CIC account, only 2 slots are opened to upload my spouse documents. Will 2 slots be enough to upload all documents or will they open more slots again for each specific category like- pcc, passport, marriage certificate, birth certificate, various forms etc..?
3. In the 2 slots, it is mentioned as "replacement needed" on far left. What does this mean ? Will they change it to something else later or do I need to ask them again on this ?
4. If only 2 slots, do I have to merge all docs in 1 slot and upload ? I don't know max size for this ?
5. I guess I have to return my COPR and visa ONLY once they request again with a mail to send passport as they did 1st time ?
6. Is this correct way of filling the forms ?
a) IMM0008- to be filled by me for both myself and my spouse ?
b) IMM 5406- both me and my spouse separately each copy ?
c) IMM 5669- only my spouse needs to fill ?
d) IMM 5562- in the form on top it is written principal applicant must fill, so only I am going to fill for myself and my spouse, right ?

Pls respond !! Thanks.
