Dear Eagle333:

Thank you for your valuable info and big help to the forumites.

I'm also very worried about my wife's outland application. It seems to take longer than others'.

My wife was born in Burma and she left there 17 years ago to my country. I met her at around 5 years ago. She was granted citizenship of my country about 3 years ago(not due to marriage) and thus voided her Burma citizenship. We got married at the beginning of this year (2016). We did not send out Burma PCC because they would not issue PCC unless applicant are physically in the country. CIC acknowledged this and stated we would not have to prepare Burma PCC under such situation:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/myanmar.asp
Certificates cannot be obtained by non-residents. If you no longer live in Burma (Myanmar), you are not required to provide a police certificate from Burma (Myanmar). If you are asked for a police certificate from Burma (Myanmar), write: “I cannot provide a police certificate for the time I spent in Burma (Myanmar) because certificates are only available to people who currently live in Burma (Myanmar).”

My wife's now holding a work permit so basically we're applying outland while she's inland. I applied for her ATIP notes on a regular basis, and here are the two most recent reports.

As of July 21 (All not started):

As

I'm feeling that her Criminality and Security are taking longer than other applicants of the same visa office and I would like to know if it is because of the following factors:

1. She was naturlized to other country than her country of birth.
2. She left her country of birth for a really long time.
3. She could not get her Burma PCC so CIC had to send a squad of agents to look into her criminality.
4. She is currently inland so CIC thinks her case is not very urgent.
5. She has many siblings so CIC has loads of background check to do.
It's a mix of 3 & 4.

You can be naturalized to any country (alot of us on this thread are naturalized canadians). With this being said, alot of us have not gone back to our country of birth for a very long time due to different circumstances. And finally, CIC is only doing BG on your wife since she's the only one coming to Canada. If CIC was to do BG on all the family members of the PA whether they accompany the PA or not, you would have waited years and years. In fact, ppl would only put one or two sibbling on their application if that was true lol :p

Hi everyone,

This morning, I met my local MP for a general inquiry session about my wife's application.
I got the chance to asked her if i order our gmcs notes will it delay our application. She said yes, and i was shocked!
She told me they don't like when you order your notes because it's like you don't trust them with your file or you
have some concerns about your file. She told me lots of people had their application delayed because they ordered notes too often and some of them were even put on a queue for an interview.

Just wanted to share her views on the gmcs notes

So we shouldn't order? It's a part of the government's benefit for our files to be checked. It's our right. :)

It's a privilege, not a right unfortunately. It is afforded to us by a law that can be removed. Just like driving isn't a right...

That said, I think they are referring more to the people who order them religiously. I don't think ordering them a couple times over the life of the case is terrible...

I know of several members who ordered them religiously who had no problems or delays in their files including someone who was approved in 5 months through SVO when the posted Timeline was over 30 months who was ordering them so often that they told him he has to wait until the ones he orders are delivered before ordering more.

I am not at all disputing that either. I was playing devil's advocate here...

So lending some credence to what the MP said... it may be possible that frequent requests may cause issues. That said, on the other side, the MP may have been trying to stem the tide of increasing volumes of ATIP requests to CIC. So, playing the middle ground was where I made my supposition that a few orders over the life of a case likely won't be a big deal...

In my second sets of gcms, there is note saying VO requesting file be unassigned from RC10806 so it can be processed at .VO.Unassigned on this date 2016/08/08.CPA/RSY.
What does this mean?

There's a tracking # on your confirmation letter which is immediately sent to you when you applied the notes. Did you reply the mail and tell them it's already overdue?

Yeah, did that almost 3 weeks ago. I havent heard of our VO either since i was approved on July 7th. It's a dead silence. My MP told me to just wait...it feels like your life is ON HOLD.

Filed our gcms notes last august 1,2016 and we received a consent request around august 19,2016, we sent it same day they asked. We followed up on first week of september and we received an email from them that they are currently in action for our gcms notes. We received our gcms notes last september 30,2016.

File was pulled 21st of September. We noticed the only difference was :
  • the Paper File Location is now with an officer rather than FCNP-PUT-AWAY.
  • the contact number for me as the PR was changed to my mobile instead of the phone number in my office.
  • the update date was change under Groups 1 from old date of June 3,2016 to September 14,2016.
  • the paper file was updated last September 19 2016 and was given to location with an initial of JF.
  • the paper file history, shows that a certain officer BJ created it and status to open and location is initial JF.
  • the paper file transfer history shows that this officer BJ get it from fcpn-put-away to location JF.
  • the online activity history shows the registration I made online linking my application to MyCiC date was July 24,2016.

To summarize, the only difference from our previous gcms notes was the file was transferred from fcpnp-put-away to file location called JF under officer BJ in 19th of September. The elligibility is recommended pass, criminality and security: not started and medical passed. But it was also on the 30th of september that our myCIC was updated under background check from not started to IN PROGRESS.

So myCIC looks like these now :

Application/profile status Open
Review of eligibility Review in Progress
Review of medical results Passed
Review of submitted documents
Scheduling an interview Not needed at this time
A background check is needed In Progress
Final decision Not Started

Am I seeing the light now? :) Day 4 of savouring the in progress in background check is needed.
Thanks be to God.
