If you were working after your graduation then it is not a gap.

I graduated in 2004, applied under SPP, got visa and right now in Canada.

1year gap is ok in spp but having more than one year of gap may effect your application..

Hi,

All so called new rules of SPP are rumors..till they are officially published on CIC website. Till then, no matter how many consultants say... it is not guaranteed that those new rules will be applicable.

According to some reports... long gaps of more than 3-5 years , even if you are working after graduation... will make you ineligible for applying under SPP. So, it's best to apply under general category. There's not much difference in processing times of SPP and General category. Only positive point for SPP, you can apply with less number of documents to those colleges participating under SPP.

So, if your overall profile is good... course selection is proper and finances are strong(Educational loan etc.), then you shouldn't worry about applying visa SPP or General.

Best of Luck.

Hi,
If you have a long working history, then under General category it is preferred, that you take an educational loan of amount equivalent to atleast 80% of 1st year tuition fees + 1 year living expenses+ travel expenses and show YOUR ITR (Form 16 for salaried employees or income tax return document).
See the checklist of general application:
http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/pdf/study_permit_17-05-2012.pdf

And... you are working since 2005, you should have all ITR documents. You will need to provide your dad's ITR, in case he is sponsoring your studies fully or partly... and/or to show more income, financial strength.

But.. if the educational loan amount is good enough i.e atleast equivalent to 80% of 1st year tuition fees + 1 year living expenses+ travel expenses and you can show legitimate ITR for past all these years, you have been working... then...I think..it's good enough...

Best of Luck.

Hi,

Try to score atleast 6.5 overall, with 6 in each bands.

You select a course, apply for the offer letter by paying requires application fees. After you receive the offer letter, you usually pay the 1st sem tuition fees, or some amount as tuition deposit to confirm the seat and get LOA-letter of approval. Then apply for an educational loan form a bank... and along with all the required documents, as mentioned in the checklist of study visa application and apply for visa under SPP, GENERAL or UNIVERSITY category.

UNIVERSITY- http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/pdf/Application_for_Prospective_University_Students_190412.pdf

Doing 2 1year back to back courses will not give 100% guarantee of 3 years PGWP, although chances are high, if you study atleast 36 credit hours per year. To get confirmed 3 years PGWP(max possible), go for a 2 acd. years/ 4 sem. course.

Hope it helps.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply tiger007. AS per my knowledge there is only 1 course-GBM (humber college) with a 2 years duration for the Jan '13 intake. I've read bad reviews about it. Also I'm worried about the visa rejection since I've heard this course is an easy gateway for the 3 year PGWP. What is your take on it? Are you studying in Canada or contemplating to? If yes which course have you opted for?
Thanks a lot again!

Hi,

There are 4 courses for Business-PG 2 years duration:
1. Humber college, Toronto - 2 years GBM
2. Centennial college, Toronto - 2 years GBM
3. Lambton college, Sarnia - 2 years PG certificate in Business Management. - General, Accounting, IB, Finance& Banking.
4. Lambton college, Toronto campus - 2 years PG certificate in B.M - only offered IB and Finance & Banking
5. Lambton college, Lloydminster border town, Saskatchewan - 2 years PG certificate in B.M (Also offered an 1 year accelerated PG certificate for same course in Sask.)

If you can secure an internship in Lambton college course(all campuses)... then the cost of tuition fees will be much lower, as compared to Centennial and Humber. All programmes will make you eligible to apply for a 3 years PGWP.. You can choose to do it in Toronto (comparatively plenty of part time jobs, big city) or a small border town in Sask. (where comparatively few part time jobs but since, it is in Sask., good for PR.. as you will need to work only for 6 months in Sask to apply under student category of SINP, as opposed to full 1 year for out of province students).

To be honest.. none of them is world-class per se.

Best of Luck.

Hi,

There is no official written confirmation that long gaps will make you ineligible to apply under SPP. As I said before, according to some reports, if you have long gaps after your study..more than 3-5 years.. and/or if academic percentage of your last major degree/diploma is less than 50%... it is advised not to apply under SPP. Nothing is confirmed... but these rules are widely followed by many students and well known consultants. You may choose to apply under SPP and see for yourself .. if you get the visa under SPP or not. It's ultimately your call... But, I will reccomend you to apply under General, as there is not much difference except for lesser documents needed for SPP.

Hi,
I've completed my B.E in Electronics and telecommunication this year securing 65% average.
10th- 93%
12th- 88%
No backlogs.
I am applying for the Database Application Developer course in Seneca college for the Jan '13 intake.
Other option provided to me being Lambton college (Although it's a 2 year course the reviews for the college are very bad) The course they are providing is a Graduate certificate course in IT and web design.
* I want opinions of people who have gone to either colleges and/or the corresponding courses.
* I want to know whether the change in streams from EXTC to IT will pose a threat to get a visa.
* Are Job opportunities available for these courses?
Kindly help. Thanks :)
