Greetings forum-goers. I have a few questions regarding funding one's studies in Canada, for which I could not find answers in immigration sites (admittedly I may have missed them, so I apologize in advance for any pestering). First let me give some basic background information. I myself am a home grown Canadian, but my girlfriend happens to be American (but she's also awesome so no hatin'!) and we are trying to figure out the best way to get her into the country. She loves working with children, so she is looking at being a preschool teacher. She has a degree already, but it is in English Literature. She can use a lot of her credits, but will at least need to take the major courses/credits in Canada to get a second degree.
All right, so this all comes down to one basic question, how can we fund her studies? I make enough to support us, but not enough to pay for university tuition and books, and certainly not the tuition + 8000/year the Government requires, and she doesn't have the savings necessary. We are thinking student loans, which I understand would come from the U.S. loan agency, but does Canada offer any financial assistance for international student; also, can we use loans as proof of funds?
That's basically all I can think of to ask, but I'm sure I'll think of something else.....
