URGENT QUESTION....URGENT QUESTION
If I get a PPR now and my passport which is expiring in July and my visa will be valid till 1st(1 year from the day of medicals), can I travel with same passport
OR
Can I send my current passport now, have visa stamped and then, sometime next year, apply for new passport and travel with both passports with visa stamped in old passport and carry new one along. I have travelled to USA like this many times. Not sure if that will work for Canada too.

Thanks in advance
Taking Chance.

Your PR visa is valid till the date of expiry of your passport or the expiry date of your medicals, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. So, I guess you have to land before your current passport expires.

Forum members, please let me know if I'm wrong!

Your Meds were done on 01/06/15 so your visa will be valid till 01/06/16 or 31/05/16.

Now, as per general rule, you need to have passport with minimum 6 months validity to travel abroad. Your passport expires in July. Let's assume your passport expires on Xth July,2016, which means you should leave India on or before Xth January,2016 because even if your visa will be valid, Indian authorities will not let you go out of India with a passport having less than 6 months' validity.

I hope this helps. Anyone else, please clarify if you are having more authentic and specific information on this line.

TLU. 15 June 2015

To avoid this, I renewed my passport (I updated my residential address) and now it is valid till 2025 :) . No issues for 10 more years :D .
