100% agree! In 2019 my husband wanted to buy a 4-bed/4-bath house with basement in Regina (he was just visiting Canada on holiday) advertised for $325k. Of course he couldn't cos we didn't have all that in cash. we moved to Regina in 2020 and similar houses in the same neighbourhood is now going for 650k minimum.

And that's in SASKATCHEWAN.

My sister lives in Ottawa. They bought their current home (4 bedroom house) in 2015 for 250k or some ridiculous price like that. They are now wanting to move to Toronto and their house is on market now for $850k but guess what, it's not enough to buy a similar sized house in Toronto. They need at least $1mil.

A 4 bed 4 bath house is not available in $1M anywhere in GTA. Even places a little further like Kitchener a 4 bed right now is upwards $1.5M. I saw Semis being sold at 1.1 -1.2 M in Brampton.

We used to call that 1 million dollar line back in 2018 or so. Its now 1.5-2.0 million dollar line. No house is available before those price range in many parts of Vancouver and I guess Toronto.

I have seen townhomes being sold for 1.1M in Milton! And it is not even rare anymore. It is just shocking. I think younger generation is priced out of GTA many times over. Only way they will be able to buy if their parents leave them with money.

sorry, but it sounds exactly the opposite.. It seems that they are only conducting draws due to the provincial pressure and because there aren't many PNP applicants in the pool. It looks like they are holding any major draw to the moment when they're cool with the backlog

Well, its no longer just suburbs of Vancouver or Toronto. This issue has spread wide and far. Meet Langford! Its no where near Vancouver. It is on Vancouver Island which is a 2-3 hours ferry ride from Vancouver suburbs. Langford is further 2 hours bus ride. So we are talking about a 5 hours commute to vancouver suburb. 6 if you look at Vancouver downtown.
In last two years, houses are selling there for 1 million plus.

This is because houses are new saving bank accounts, new GICs, new Pension plans and what not. They are everything but a place to live.

Meanwhile, Saving bank accounts do not give practically any interest. GICs give 50 dollars for an investment of 100,000 per year. Yes, its that insane.

So all the money is trying to find a place and its going into houses.
