It's hilarious to see the liberals in complete despair trying to fix the damage they did in 8 years. Now, after denying last fall there would be a cap on intl student visas, Marc Miller has reversed that position and said he is actively looking at a cap lol. It's also pathetic that the government, which should be comprised of "experts" to advise them, is only now realizing the tragedy they created in the immigration system when "laymen" like ourselves in this forum have been pointing it out for years.
Lol I predicted this outcome! Canada is extremely ripe for a hard turn to the right and even far right. Conservatives are under cruise control. The liberals took a well functioning immigration system and turned it into a complete failure. That’s how incompetent these fools are. I predict no one is ever going to elect these guys for another 8 years. International students and TFWs are going to get turfed. RE will collapse because interest rates won’t go back to even pre pandemic levels.

Other way round. 2/3rd own houses. Its more like its unfashionable right now to support immigration because "it hurts poors! OMG". The moment rental demand crashes, you will see pitch forks out with home owners crying bloody murder.
Contrary to what people believe, economic cycles are not under the control of governments or home owners. They are determined by market forces. All bubbles burst eventually and it’s not a question of if but when. All market conditions point towards a deleveraging cycle in Canada so it’s already in crash territory. Economics 101, what goes up will eventually come down.

Trump is back boys @RSub @PRANIT01 @Windsor37 Still moving US if he wins?:p
If he wins, the damage it’s going to do to the unity of the US, is going to be massive. I don’t think the US will ever recover from that. It’s a sad thing because even among the Republican Party, there are better candidates than him. I can’t imagine what Trump supporters see in the guy? He’s an A grade scumbag who’s only in it for the limelight it provides him. He’s the right wing version of Trudeau. Narcissistic to the core and will spout garbage to get elected and rile up certain segments of the population. What I feel is that if Trump is against Biden, there’s no way he’s going to win because the independent voters hate Trump. If it’s Biden against any one else, Biden probably gets destroyed.

I highly doubt that any politician has the spine to do anything drastic Conservative or Liberal, I guarantee that nothing significant will happen. The so called "experts" on the news are already sounding alarm bells saying that the economy will slip into a recession if immigration is stopped in a big way.

Well that’s the big myth isn’t it? Canada’s already in a recession despite having record population growth! Economists have already said that adding more people without proportionally increasing capital investments, doesn’t lead to economic growth. Who would have thought? That’s the exact situation Canada’s in. Only the dumbest idiots who have no clue regarding basic economics aka, the liberal government, think that the way to economic growth and prosperity is by adding more people. Pakistan would be an economic powerhouse if that’s the case! The recession’s already here and the Liberals are making it worse by inducing stagflation cause adding more people without increasing productivity also leads to higher prices.

Entrepreneurship in Canada outside of RE is often looked down. It is annoying to see everyone go behind this extremely unintelligent, unsustainable way of making money. If it goes down, it will be a good thing to see, BUT investors can hold out 3-5 years worth of stagnation though. Considerable people around me are neck deep into this RE market, but they also have a million dollar cash lying around to hold even during the toughest time. They are ready to play the 10 year game(and win it too!).

Once TFWs stop coming in mass numbers(which doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon), LMIA frauds and overleveraged RE investors will take a hit. Canada needs real entrepreneurs, not these investors who are good for nothing for this country. I recently talked to someone who opened not one but 4 new businesses this year just to get 3-4 LMIAs per business and make that $25k/LMIA and not to mention they can get away without paying wages(or getting wages back). When I confront them, they don't give a shit saying "everyone is doing it". Same thing with 5 in a 1bedroom basement - "everyone is doing it". Reported them to CBSA, but looking at what I saw with my other reports, I don't expect anyone to get back to me even after a year or so.

Once the exploitable segment(students and TFWs) go away, things can cool down. But at best, we are looking at maybe 10% reduction in new students per year, not 50% or higher. Expect a few more years of this to stay if something doesn't change here soon.

I'm rooting for Haley though, fingers crossed she'd get the nomination. On the last part, it depends on what happens next, if Pierre wins in Canada, it'll be quite interesting where we'd be going forward. Likely be trying my luck though in the US though, then if there are too many bullets flying over my head, then I'll be taking the next plane to Toronto please.

The sole reason why the general public has been fooled into believing that real estate is a risk free asset class is because “2008” never really happened in Canada. The banking system in Canada is one of the world’s safest and most stable so subprime mortgages weren’t a thing in Canada but the Bank of Canada, at the time, followed the Federal Reserve and decided to cut interest rates in tandem with the Fed, when there wasn’t any risk of a recession in Canada, which in turn fueled the speculative bubble that we see today. Since 2008, Canadians have viewed real estate as the safest investment vehicle for all their savings. We’re probably about to see it implode in real time. All bubbles eventually pop and this isn’t even the first bubble in Canada. Real estate crashed in the 1990s. If the crash were to be delayed, it would have just resulted in a depression instead of a recession.

I agree that it'll break US unity, whatever's left of it, BUT I don't think the US won't recover from it; after all they did recover from the Civil War. Hopefully we'll see a Haley 2024.

The only way Trump loses is if they ban him from running in certain states. Trump appeals to the core attributes of most Americans even know many don’t admit it publicly: Outlaw, Boisterous, Selfish

I may be wrong but I don’t think Trump can win against Biden mainly because independents form a major portion of the voting population in the US. They hate Trump and I don’t think any person can win the US elections without gaining the votes of the independents. Either way, Canada loses cause neither Trump nor Biden will risk American interests when it comes to trade with Canada.

No, he wont. If that happens, republican party will switch to caucus style primaries and he will still get nominated. Here is the most interesting part. He can actually fight the election sitting in the jail too! There is no force that can really stop him from running in the election. The worst that can happen is after he wins, congress refuses to inaugurate him. Then his VP becomes the president and he can basically pardon him from all his misdoings. At this moment, he is unstoppable.

You are wrong. Biden is not even able to retain his own voters. He is losing to Trump in mock elections where the voters are asked. In the real election, voters will have to step out of their homes and vote. Biden's voters are not willing to do it this time because he is not really popular and many do not consider his presidency to be any better than Trump's. This is classical depressed voters scenario. Biden will loose.

Oh well.. US is a country that recovered from a civil war. So this is not even a scratch mark.
