Easy, when some people are frustrated because they can't make it in one specific country they start talking trash about it.Are there any reasons why a lof Canadians and immigrants on Reddit, the internet feel very anti-Canada when Canada is the second-best country in the world by USnews (https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/the-25-best-countries-in-the-world?onepage) and the best country to be an immigrant (https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/the-25-best-countries-in-the-world?onepage). Where's the disconnect?
I assume usnews is pretty reliable since university ranking by usnews is pretty reliable.
Canadians are among the largest users of Reddit and Gen Z revolves their entire lives around social media. Hence, you see a lot of actual issues being blown into hyperbolic proportions. In most cases, successful people do not spend a great deal of time making negative posts or venting online, which is why most of the posts you see online are from people who are struggling. This is not exclusive to Canada. In the subreddit of most developed and developing countries, you have a lot of young people posting about how absolutely shit their lives are. It’s become extremely rare to see positive news and there’s also the fact that negativity sells and garners more clicks and attention. The best thing for anyone’s mental health would be to stay out of toxic social media sites and to dedicate that time towards self betterment. Are there any reasons why a lof Canadians and immigrants on Reddit, the internet feel very anti-Canada when Canada is the second-best country in the world by USnews (https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/the-25-best-countries-in-the-world?onepage) and the best country to be an immigrant (https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/the-25-best-countries-in-the-world?onepage). This has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with pathetic Canadian policy of being extremely soft on crime. About time to fix it.Canadian police advise home owners to leave their car fobsoutsidenear front door so armed thieves can steal them more easily without confronting home owners. “They’re breaking into your home to steal your car. They don’t want anything else.”

Its true about Reddit. Whenever I post something about things happening in my city, I get multiple good responses within minutes. Lot of people are on Reddit in Canada. Not was the case in the US.Canadians are among the largest users of Reddit and Gen Z revolves their entire lives around social media. Every now and then when I feel bored, I go to random subreddits (calgary, edmonton, toronto and vancouver) and post "What was the loud noise/bang on XYZ street". The ensuing "yes I heard too" and "no you are lying" is funny as hell. Its true about Reddit. Whenever I post something about things happening in my city, I get multiple good responses within minutes. I predicted this earlier this year. Once the govt. closed the doors on Lamdas, they are gonna use asylum route because they are shameless and have nothing to lose. They have no skills to use back home.https://nationalpost.com/news/asylum-claims-international-students-ontario-college

My guess it's because USNews give equal weight in its scorecard when ranking countries, whereas most people in a community look at the variable most important, or most visible to them. Lambdas think they are creative but these things will not go well with the public and definitely not a good optics for the gov.https://nationalpost.com/news/asylum-claims-international-students-ontario-college

Personally, I would not rate Winnipeg higher. I assume Regina and lots of Maritime cities are the same. That city is very depressing and the rent was not much cheaper either. I had a feeling that there were so many people with mental health problems and just couldn't get out of there because they just didn't have money for a plane ticket. My guess it's because USNews give equal weight in its scorecard when ranking countries, whereas most people in a community look at the variable most important, or most visible to them.
If you look at Canada's scorecard: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/canada , you can see it scores extremely well on things like "safety", "animal rights", "human rights", "environmental rights", "racial equality", "religious freedom", "gender equality" etc. which nice and all, but if you look closely Canada falters on "Affordable".
Salary, rent and groceries are much much more visible to most people than say "animal rights" or "religious freedom", and this is especially true for someone who is living paycheck to paycheck as they would more likely see Canada at an affordability standpoint than from its other redeeming qualities, and from there it's not unfathomable to think that locals in Canada would rank Canada on a much much lower scale.
Furthermore, my bet is that Canada's "affordable" score would be an average across the nation which mean cheaper cities like Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, and the Maritimes are pulling up this score while those in reddit would be probably be from Vancouver or Toronto where a hypothetical "affordable" score would fall well below Canada's average.
