Its the nature of your cities. They are ghettos.
North Vancouver has dominance of Iranians.
Richmond in GVA is dominated by Chinese, so much so that even the road signs etc are in Chinese.
Surrey is practically Punjab.
Coquitlam is Korean dominated.
Lets put things into perspective (
https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/canada/#:~:text=Canadian 15.6%, English 14.7%,1.5% (2021 est.)) :
Canadian 15.6%, English 14.7%, Scottish 12.1%, French 11%, Irish 12.1%, German 8.1%, Chinese 4.7%, Italian 4.3%, First Nations 1.7%, Indian 3.7%, Ukrainian 3.5%, Metis 1.5% (2021 est.)
No one bats an eye for 8.1 % German?
Or 4.3 % Italians
Or 3.6 % Ukranians
But Indians are problem.... We do not want Canada to have a significant Indian presence.
Why is it okay to turn Canada into "Germany" or "Ukraine" or "China" or "Ireland" or Italy"? ... But Indian culture has issues.
Now coming to a bigger question, why so many Indian each year? It was 27% in 2022. 118 K out of 437 K. This is indeed more than 17% of world population and lower than China's 31 thousand. While poor living conditions and a social preference in India is really responsible, there is something else in play here:
What parameter do you select people for?
1. Age: Younger the better... (Guess who has a massive young population?)
2. English abilities: Guess who studies their school syllabus in English? Who speaks English over their own native language?
3. Education: Guess who produces vast number of graduates per year? 6.5 million! India. China also produces 7.5 million but improved conditions in China and Language barrier lower their contribution.
So you choose willing, young, english speaking, educated (not commenting on the quality of education) people, which ones will you get?
Yes, Indians get an extra leg up due to their education system having a focus in English but then thats what you want!
Remember, for economic migration, you are taking highest CSR first so you are taking whom you want! Those who fit a beaurocratic world view.
So, why so much alarm for Indians? I guess there are two reason to blame. Indians are typically very vocally self critical. To an extreme. India has/had a tradition of free press and criticizing our own ethnic origin (may not be ourself but our origin) is a kind of national pass time.
