India sends only 27% of immigrants/PRs.

For my own research, I want to know why did you say 80% are from India?
Your link only mentions landed PR's.

There are many other categories such as international students, visa overstayers, work permit holders, etc.

Those spots are massively absorbed by Indians.

As I said in the past in this same forum, this is nothing against Indians, I would think the same way if instead of India it was Cameroon, New Zealand, etc.

From Table 40: Around 40% - 50% have Indian citizenship.
40-50% of HIGH SKILLED IMMIGRANTS ONLY admitted via express entry. NOT the entire immigration (which has an equally large family sponsored component). NOT the percentage of total PR/Citizens in Canada.

Just a small correction for you. Those are called temporary residents and NOT immigrants.

Why do Indians like to emigrate? I mean compared to China with roughly the same number of people, the proportion of Indians coming to Canada is 5x to 8x more from the report. Not a fair comparison because IELTS is definitely easier for Indians compared to Chinese.
Why do you like to immigrate? The reasons for Indians are not too far off.

And lets not forget sometimes back Chinese were the majority of immigrants coming to Canada. Indians are now coming in higher numbers because they are younger than Chinese and they are now rich enough to immigrate.

And many if not most of them end up staying one way or another.
Still will NOT make Indians 80% of immigrants because ultimately it is limited by High Skilled immigration limits. Still the number of immigrants will remain 27% ONLY (at least for now).

And before you say Indians are overstaying, do know that living like an undocumented person in Canada is very hard because every facility in Canada is tied to SIN, Health Insurance Card, Driver License and what not. All of those check for your immigration status.

I most humbly disagree.

One of the major stupidities of Great Depression was burning wheat to keep its prices from falling while massive number of people were dying of starvation. We are no where near that point and thanks to globalisation, we will likely not reach that point.
And you would be correct. I meant to say that we are no where close to what humanity has faced in the past even though the amplification is much more given the social media discussions. I really worded that very poorly. Time to get my coffee.

Again, you are focusing only on the landed PR's, those are NOT the only immigrants coming to Canada.

Even if it was 27%, the number is still too high. There are over 200 countries in the world, why would one single country take over a quarter of the spots?

Population of 200 countries = population of India

Well, it's still one country.

Besides, what percentage of the Indian population has the means to move to Canada? 10%? Around 140 million people?

Country quotas would fix this nonsense.
1 Country with 200+ languages and cultures. We are inventing a solution for a problem, when there's no real problem in this case.

No Program Specified

Number of invitations issued:
3,200Footnote*

Rank required to be invited to apply: 3,200 or above

Date and time of round: September 19, 2023 at 15:04:11 UTC

CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 531

oof...
This makes it unlikely for the CRS to reach less than 500 next time with the same numbers I guess. Tough luck for those who are 490-500 and entered the pool over the last 2-3 months.

Landed PRs are the ONLY immigrants. Unless you mean visitors, study permit holders, work permit holders are immigrants. They are NOT. They are called temporary residents for a reason. Their stay is temporary unless they change status to become permanent. Which is limited annually by design.

India has more than 17-18% of world population. Among young adults (18-35), this will be even higher. Also they speak english to some extant.

Do remember, PEOPLE immigrate, COUNTRIES don't. Countries are just landmass without people.

The need for quota should exist if there's a problem. You know, over the last entire year, I've met folks that make me damn proud of my Canadian desi diaspora. I get your gist and what others write here, but from what I've seen is massive amount of contribution from desi folks to the country. I'm actually quite excited to be one of them.

Saying it is one country is like saying "EU is one country". Language changes every 100kms and so does food - safe to say it isn't just one country.
