Thank you Alysson. Where did u pick in Canada? Did you manage to get all the initial stuff sorted?
Came to windsor because of a job offer. I got most things settled, just need the license, but now I don't have time due to work and its expensive to rent for the test, so I'll wait a bit since its not that necessary here. Maybe I'll meet people here and can get to borrow one lol.

Nice. Congrats on the job. Will start running around for my documentation from tomorrow.

I apologise upfront if this has been asked and answered before. I received PCC request for my application last night(finally some movement..) - do i need to get the PCC done again for countries that I have not resided in since my original application submission - logically it does not make sense but they haven't given any clear instructions in the request letter?

For context - I am from India but live in Singapore. the India PCC takes a while to get so I would rather not go through that exercise again.

Thanks!

I dont think ethnic names are a problem in canada. Where I work, there are a lot of foreigners and second gen immigrants and everyone seems pretty chill about different names, and I pay attention to names since I was bullied a lot in the US because of mine, when I was young. I know my perspective is not statistic, but from what I gathered, they actually care to pronounce your name correctly, dont make nicknames/abbreviations to not have to deal with it like people in the US.
Americans are funny they pronounce my name in all the possible combinations except my real name.Atleast it is not Xpreet
Where X can take values Jas,man,gur.....

Wow yesterday with some conversations with the people of other nationalities came to know indians have a very bad reputation in calgary, I even heard that from an Indian girl who lives in my airbnb. I was really surprised because in US we are known as nerds, sw engineers and doctors, socially awkward, funny accent....Here hmm don't want to talk about it.
The "nerds" Indians do not live in Calgary. They live in Toronto and Vancouver. Better they live in Calif, Washington and parts of Texas.

That being said, once you get settled in, most of the time you do not have to deal with this mess. Given that Calgary has more houses looking for people, you will be able to pick where you want to live.

Now if you are looking at dating scene, I do not now how that will go.

Immigrants will never become majority because in that case westerners will form their own neighborhoods (then the immigrant neighborhoods will go to shit, immigrants will try to move to westerner neighborhoods, same thing just lower scale). It is the same mechanism as the one formed these good countries all the easterners are trying to escape to. So I would still advise against giving your children ethnic names.
There is but one issue with this reasoning. Age profile. Immgrants are skewed towards younger age group. Non-immigrants or natives are older. We are hearing about mass retirement. Next will be mass death. Because lots of folks die within 5-6 years of retirement. So no, immigrants will not take over non-immigrants by coming in droves. Non-immigrants will pass away because they were result of baby boom. The years of their deaths will also be clustered.

Cure for this demographic anamoly is another baby boom. Sadly that is not happening. Natives are not being pushed by aggressive immigrants. Far from it. They are being pushed by their own use of condoms and pills.

As I said, this is not about work, but about social life. This is like saying hey I live in Toronto as a foreigner with an ethnic name and have never had an issue. Well yeah obviously you haven't because one you're living in an immigrant zone and two you never tried making it deep into a western social circle to even see how the experience would be.

By the way the ethnic name talk started as a joke. First generation immigrants from the east have zero chances regardless of their names. The only way to be western is to be born in the west. So only their children and especially grandchildren will have a chance.
