1. you cannot enter Canada on a PR card that you did not exit with. You need to get a PRTD.
2. Get SIN in the couple of days? Your optimism is admirable .
I needed to change my SIN from temp to permanent,. I called in March to book. The earliest appointment I could get is in June and they are not taking walk-ins. Only other option was to apply online which takes min 20 days. That is your best bet. If you already have your COPR, you can apply whilst outland, and give your friend's address.

Can you elaborate why not? AFAIK, exits are tracked directly from flight data (or US entry point data) using passport numbers.

I am really not sure. I agree with you that technically, all one needs to leave the country is their passport, but I've been told you cannot come in with your PR card if your last exit date is prior to your card issuance date.

If someone can bring your PR card for you (or securely ship it), why does IRCC insist on PRTD then?

@stirredo Personally I would not take any chances with soft landing or PRTD. Being rejected of some country’s equivalent of PRTD is one critical reason that I came to this forum (or my 2nd immigration process) in the first place. (I did find wonderful people and memes here, but still)

I have multiple close family members in that country. And I was sponsoring my spouse to get PR there. Yet officers reviewing my PRTD-equivalent said I didn’t intend to live there lol. Oh wow.

Alas, that was the past. The moral is don’t take these chances unless you absolutely have to. I took it to be with my spouse and got screwed by covid. A certificate IMO is never worth it, be it CPA or AWS or PMP. Nobel Prize, now we are talking

This is a bit of grey area right now. It's not explicitly prohibited but not condoned by them either.

Another problem I have run into is credit cards cannot be shipped internationally (even not activated/disabled ones).

So now I am leaning toward someone bringing my cards with me when they come back to my country.

Thank you for showing concern. I am still mulling things over and so far what I have researched is within the law.

The law says you have to live in Canada for 2 years out of 5 years to be able to renew your PR card. If I do apply for PRTD, I will have almost 4 years to complete the terms set by them.

I FOUND AN OFFICIAL LINK BY ONTARIO GOVERNMENT WEBSITE WHERE THEY SUGGEST TO GET YOUR PR CARD THROUGH YOUR RELATIVES HERE:

I won't. I am relying on friend/relatives coming through for me. If I am not sure about them, I won't go through with this and do a normal landing.

Service Canada isn't open at Toronto Pearson airport because of covid.

Apparently, it's possible to make an appointment with service Canada when one is outside Canada. I guess I'll take an appointment first and then go for flight tickets.
