Sir,
I did IELTS and My wife too .the score of my wife is Listening 7, Speaking 7, Reading 5.5,writing6.5 Overall Average=6.5 we want to apply for NOC 4214 Early Child Hood educator ...are we eligible for the apply. i am very upset as you know the time is very short for

Please reply me as early as possible thank you very much
Hi, are you applying under FSW or CEC?

That makes a difference because if you are applying under FSW - her scores are ineligible because the minimum score allowed for each section is a "6"

If you are applying under CEC - Since NOC 4214 = NOC B Occupations, then scores from your wife are good enough to apply

Also, who is the principle applicant? you or your wife? what are your scores?

Friends,
The recent queries/conversations about points for English language on this forum have confused me little bit.
So, I want to make it clear of point's allocation for IELTS scores. (Please correct me if I am wrong)
Points are allocated based on CLB level as shown below:
First Official Language Points
Speaking Listening Reading Writing
CLB level 9 or higher 6 (IELTS 7) 6 (IELTS 8.) 6 (IELTS 7) 6 (IELTS 7)
CLB level 8 5(IELTS 6.5) 5 (IELTS 7.5) 5 (IELTS 6.5) 5 (IELTS 6.5)
CLB level 7 4 (IELTS 6) 4 (IELTS 6) 4 (IELTS 6) 4 (IELTS 6)
Below CLB level 7 Not eligible to apply

Points calculation:
Example 1:
If I get IELTS scores as follows: Speaking 7, Listening 7.5, Reading 7, Writing 6.
My CLB level as above table is 7. So 4 points will be allocated for each category.
Total points observe towards English language ability is 16.
Example 2:
If I get IELTS scores as follows: Speaking 7, Listening 7.5, Reading 7, Writing 6.5.
My CLB level as above table is 8. So 5 points will be allocated for each category.
Total points observe towards English language ability is 20.

Took the IELTS exam and I got
L:7
R:7
W:6
S:7
Over All: 7

How many points could I get?

I was advised to retake the exam because I lacked 2 more points to acquire 67 points.
I wonder if I will get 7 in writing this time but lower in other parts would they still consider my first score in L.R.S. parts? or I need to maintain 7 in all parts once I retake?

Thanks
Friends,
The recent queries/conversations about points for English language on this forum have confused me little bit.

I think johnny31 is correct.

If you read carefully CIC website, it states there "points per ability". Scores are calculated per ability and not per band.

So, what is the purpose of giving points per ability if the scoring is based from band level? CIC should have written, 16, 20 and 24 otherwise.

Both Calculations are wrong -

First scenario:
Speaking 7 = 6 points
Listening 7.5 = 5 points
Reading 7 = 6 points
Writing 6 = 4 points

Total = 21 points

Second scenario:
Speaking 7 = 6 points
Listening 7.5 = 5 points
Reading 7 = 6 points
Writing 6.5 = 5 points

Total = 22 points

The calculations are done individually

Points per ability will be awarded, once your CLB level is decided.
CLB level is decided based on all of your 4 abilities, not just one ability....

Your comments are welcome :)

Your references are good.

is it specified anywhere on CIC website?

How would you calculate the poster's scores using your interpretation?

Listening 6
Speaking 7.5
Reading 7
Writing 7

Regarding to how to calculate the scores - you should look it up.

Thank you Johnny,

my only concern is, applicants should not get their applications returned based on the aggresive point allocation.
If points are awarded based on individual score, that will be well and good.
I accpet tha above method (points for individual scores), because everybody think so....:)

But - that's not yours or mine issues to worry about.

Can't worry about everybody's problems. All we can do is to give the right advice.

Also - you don't need to accept the methods if you don't want to - we live in a democratic society, you are more than welcome to believe what you want instead of believing in something just because others say so.

My CLB level as above table is 8. So 5 points will be allocated for each category.

That is the absolutely correct calculation im explaining jhony and gmail abt the calculations and they r not ready to understand. It will not effect me but will effect the applicants who will apply with wrong points calculation.
