The most logical explanation is that the applicant has a common name, which is traced to some criminal history during criminal assessment. As a result they need to make sure that the applicant is not related to these acts and running his fingerprint through RCMPs database eliminates this risk. As in many other cases of public policy administration in NPM framework, this could also be part of random quality assessment for training purposes.
Hi Diplomatru,

We are lukcy to have you here help everyone.

I have a question about the RCMP. The situation for me is a little complicated. I submitted my application to CIO when I was in US. at December, 2014. At that point, I've never entered into Canada, so I did not need to submit the fingerprint or police certificate of Canada. However, I resided in Canada at June 2015, and I completed the Medical at early of August. I thought everything would be completed by September or October. Unfortunately, due to the unexpected delay from CPCO, I don't know when it will happen. It is gonna be 6 months since I entered into Canada next month. I don't know whether they will ask me to submit the RCMP or fingerprint. If that happens, how long it will take to get the RCMP report of Canada? This is my first time. I have submitted my FBI PCC of US. to CIC already.

My GCMS note shows the RCMP status is : No Reportable Trace. What does that mean? My file location is APPERAS RFV, but my criminality is still in process.

I am so frustrated now, do you think it is necessary for me to apply the RCMP report next month or I just wait until they really ask for it? Hopefully it will not take a couple of months to get the certificate :(

Thank you!

Hi Guys,
Been dipping in and out of this forum for a while but this is my first post. I was hoping someone (in a similar situation) could give me some ideas regarding how much longer I should expect to wait...

I guess my summary is:
I live in Quebec, I am working. I have been here since 2012. I am originally from the UK.

I applied for my CSQ and received it last year, compiled everything for my federal application and sent it off in March 2015.

received email from the intake office, 9th July 2015 (this stated that the paperwork was "complete", for which I understood as there were no problems)

received email to say I was being transferred to the CPC Ottawa - 25th September 2015

received email asking for more money (RPRF) on the - 5th of November 2015

I am yet to be asked for my medical tests.

so I guess I'm wondering, what the outstanding processes are and how long they are likely to take? If I try to log into the CIC website and check my status, it doesn't display anything, it's never worked for me when i have tried :-(

thanks
chris

Thank you for the reply. I am also hoping that I don't need to submit it.

But if needed, how long does it take to get it? Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation. Application received by the sidney office in April 2015 and then transferred to CPC Ottawa in August 2015.
In November they asked me for the RPRF, and nothing since then (no medical request, nothing..)
I can login on cic to check the status of my application and it's been stuck on the "we started processing your application" line since August.

Hi fsqsunshine,

NRT means they don't have information about your criminal activity in Canada. Fingerprints request is non-routine and they would have asked you to submit it by now. Sometimes they fail to update GCMS, so you see criminality in progress while it is actually assessed already (otherwise your file wouldn't move to RFV). Don't worry, you are in line for visa as soon as they get resupplied with visa#.

Send an email to question (at) cic. gc. ca with headline ECAS login problem and explain your situation. You should have access to your application status and it's not OK that you don't

just as an update to this...

I emailed the CIC. i received a standard reply from them asking me to submit a web based request and sent me a link to their portal.

I wanted to grab a screen shot of the error, when i tried to log in again... it is now working...

so yeah... not sure if they pressed a button, turned it off and on again or did something else but I can see the following:

We received your application for permanent residence on March 27, 2015.
We started processing your application on July 9, 2015.

Told ya. That's good. AFAIK QSW files don't fly, so you should be looking at 12 months total processing time (or even what the CIC sie says - 15 months).
