Hello Folks , Please help me on this last query ...... I have my PR visa - My question is What is the minimum amount I could carry to canada at the time of landing ? Thanks in Advance.

Minimum is

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,931
2 $14,853
3 $18,260
4 $22,170
5 $25,145
6 $28,359
7 or more $31,574

If you meant how much cash you should, then it depends upon you. Maybe 5000 C$

There is no maximum limit. You just have to let them know and if questioned, you should be able to prove that the money is from legit source...

Hey seniors,

I have a question about the US b1/b2 visa application. I am waiting for the FSW result (ME done but no third line yet). But I plan to go to US for a conference in October. Is any conflict between the Canada PR application and US visa application? Has anyone applied US visa during waiting for the Canada PR? Thanks

no conflict. You apply for US visa based on the status you currently have in Canada. They will ask you for CIC document to prove that status (visitor, student, worker, PR...). The two applications are completely separate.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
But I am worried that if I was checked when I apply the US visa.
Someone said they waited for two months to get the visa, and the passport was submitted.
Never know when will CIC have next step. I guess I have to give up the conference >:(

If your papers are in order you get the visa in 2 working days ..
It takes a long time like 2 months if your case is put into administrative processing for background check .
Even in that case you can always email to US embassy to return your passport and they will do it ..get it stamped it from CPCO ..and then when U.S. Embassy asks for it sent it to them again ..I have been through such a phase don't worry about it ..!!

Hi guys,

I check your discussion on a daily basis. Very glad that we have companion helping each other. Since CIC has started processing the December applications, we don't have as many ppl being active in this post anymore.

Here is my timeline
Application recevied: Dec 08, 2014
PER: Feb 24, 2015
MR & Fee: June 30, 2015
TLU: July 15, 2015

Hope all of us get PPR soon.

I totally agree. Which visa are you applying for? I assume B1. So its 50% chance. And for B1 they generally dont put under admin processing but if so then its like harrysaini said. If you need the passport you can request and you will get it in next day or few days max. Actually they dont even hold the passport in most cases. For my case they held it for 7 months and i took passport couple of times and no issue.

Hi,

Thank you Harira and Harry (similar names :)) for the detailed information.
I have another question. Sorry it is not very related to this forum ???
I held j1 visa before and stayed in U.S for almost four years. I left U.S on June 2nd. this year.
Is it too soon if I apply another visa in such a short time (Yes, I plan to apply B1 visa).
Do not know if there is any interval rule?
Need your suggestion or experience.

Thanks a lot!

BTW, any MER (medical received) recently >:(

ha ha ha..you misspelled his name it's hariraj ..i know they are kinda similar
no there is no time interval required for application of 2 visas..
just apply for it ..you will definitely get it soon as administrative processing is generally only for people for whom they do not have any backround information..since you have already spent time in the US it should not be a problem..

PCC is valid upto 1 year from date of issuance

You can inquire.
Vinjaj, harrysaini, Others,
One more question i have (related to Ottawa office) - I just received my EP. Is it good to do the medicals before we receive MR?
I have previous UCI for my family hence i can schedule doctor appointments but wanted to know its effect of doing early apart from visa validity getting shortened.
