Hi All,
I have a quick question about landing from US to Canada.Poeple who have recently done their landing from US and came back please answer this.Currently i have a valid work visa in US (valid till end of July).I am planning to land in Canada in mid-June and come back in a week.

Question: Will the airline take away my current i94 and i will be issued a new one when i come back or will i simply retain my current i94.This is important for me to know as my visa extension will be in progress at that time.If they dont take away my current i94 then i am good but if they take away i94 and issue a new one then it might mess up things for me.

Just my suggestion, as your work visa is valid till July if its July 2015 then don't take any chance until and unless your H1B or L1B is renewed and once you get new copy of I-797 which will include I-94 then only think about going to Canada.

To answer your question whether airline will take away your I-94 yes they do and then on the port of entry you will get new I-94 which will be accessible over here,

Thanks for your response. But what about the 30 day rule which says that if you are going to Canada or Mexico for less than 30 days then you don't submit your current i94??? Do you have a recent experience wherein you went to Canada and when you came back they issue a new i94 to you?

I believe you are referring to 8 CFR 214.1(b) and 22 CFR 112(d), yes one of my colleague did this when he visited Mexico and he was on H1B.

But still cross-check with your Immigration Lawyer as it should not be like you are in Canada and you are getting a query from USCIS. I believe you have already started your processing for your extension if work visa is till July 2015.

Yes sir, and let me tell you something, it's a nightmare.
The question that keep screaming in the back my head :-X , why ? why before the PPR ? is it because of Negative Decision or what?

Hello Web,

And don't worry about the receipt, you did the right thing, anyway you can call them and ask about your file.
Magicjack -> 6139444000 -> answers 1-1-1-1-1-3-1 -> Ask the agent: I would like to verify that my RPRF receipt was received by the officer? -> Give him your UCI and he'll ask you some personal questions -> Agent: Sir, you'd your receipt appended to your file at (Date) -> Voila
