Do I mail my passport to this address:

CPC – Ottawa
365 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa ON K1A 1L1

Does it matter which courier service I use to send my passport from USA to Canada.

I believe for getting my passport back, I can buy a prepaid Canada Post shipping label as instructed in the email that I received.

Please advise.

Hi, guys, I need your help badly. Is it possible for me to land in Canada with my study permit and then change my address from US to Canada for FSW application? (I am working in the US now) My master program will start in August but I have not heard anything from CIC since I received MER in mid Dec 2014. Thank you so much for advice.

Do you have a "Study Permit" or "Student Visa"? Study permit does not authorize you to enter into the country but student visa does! Have a proof of fund (i.e. bank statement) when landing in case the CBSA officer ask you if you can financially support yourself. I'm assuming you are not from a visa exempt country!

Once you have an address in Canada you can change your PR application address easily.

Guys, My journey of getting a Canadian PR ends here. I got my passport back in mail with the maple stamp today.


Thanks a ton to all the support I got from this forum. I can say with confidence that I wouldn't have gotten my PR without the suport from this forum and people like Diplo and many others. This forum's worth a million times more than any consulting company!

I'll be applying for my brother later this year through the Express Entry system. I'll be here sharing that experience as well.

The address is correct, I sent mine to the same. It doesn't matter what courier you use to send your passport, I used UPS my friend had CanadaPost . . .

He can do anything any Canadian inside the country can do except voting! who cares! That's Canadian enough for me lol

The key word is 'inside'. He won't be recognized as a Canadian elsewhere. Even at a Canadian embassy abroad lol

No worries, You won't need the student visa very soon once your PR application is finalized. You're almost there!
I hope this the last time you are using the student visa to enter into the country.

Just to correct: Permanent resident status has infinite validity not 5 years(as long as you are in Canada for 2 out of 5 years). What do you mean by Conditional Permanent Visa ?

It means that this status can be revoked: crime, failure to meet residency requirements. Canadian citizenship can't.
