Some of the timelines on here looks too good to be true (people getting med requested 5 months after applying ), so i will stay hopeful. I recently received my confirmation email from Sydney office however it doesn't say which office my application was sent to. I am assuming CPC-O since I already live in Canada, provided a proof and requested CPC-O for processing. So how can i confirm that? I guess contact Ottawa office or would the call center be able to answer that?

Also anyone submitted their application around the time i did, if so could you share any updates you have received?

Best luck to all!

This is my timeline btw

Application received November 27 2014 (confirmation email received from Sydney Feb 14 2015)

1) Apply for GCMS notes. 30 days
2) Contact CIC helpline (if you are in inland applicant). 10 minutes
3) Send a query to CIO. 60 days
4) Wait for first communication from VO. at least 60 days

It's 100% that your designated VO is Ottawa if you provided immigration status document at the time of application (study permit, work permit, etc), which would expire in no less than 1 year. You have to wait at least for 2 months before further communication from CPC. They became very slow compared to other VOs.

Thanks Diplomatru, yes i did submit copies of my work and study permits but they do expire in less than a year. I am pretty confident however that they will transfer my file to Ottawa because, if i remember correctly, one can request any visa office to handle their file if they can prove that you have lived in that country legally. So CPC-O should be the one given that I have lived in Canada for the past 7 years. I think i will go ahead and call CIC in about a week just to allow sometime for things to be updated in the system.

You can call them right away. If you received letter from Sydney saying that your applications is put into processing, the GCMS file already mentions your designated visa office.

Timeline updated on the side, i am assuming file transfer means when you get an email saying we have transferred your file to a visa office.

i was wondering if someone knowledgeable can post the meaning of all these different abbreviations? Like PER, ECAS...etc. whatever you can think of just post on here so I can actually understand what I am reading lol

thanks y'all

As far as I know PER is positive eligibility review

You can take a look at the spreadsheet for anymore abbreviation.

I have the same question, how do I get to know that after PER when my file has been transferred

Thank you

The quote i made addresses that. There is multiple ways you can find out where your file has been transferred to (which in my opinion is what matters) because I don't think knowing the exact day makes much of a difference. Or you can just assume date transferred is the date when you receive an email from Sydney office

Just spoke with CIC call center and they confirmed that CPC-O is the office handling my application.

Copper, what do you need to contact Ottawa for? Personally, I think if you already know where your file is you don't need to talk to them until they contact you.

I think you have to have an application in process. If you do just follow check application status instructions, it will eventually ask for your application number and birth year. Once you input that, the system will either place you in line to speak with an agent or terminate the call if they are too busy so you will have to call again. So I recommend you remember the buttons to get to the same place

Visit this link under call center for more info

Good luck
