I am from Egypt also. Are they giving you a time limit to send your passport to Ottawa.
Why can't you send the passport to Ottawa instead of their reply that might exceed the time limit they are giving to you

can we instead ship our passports to a relative or a friend in Canda and he by turn send and receive our passports and then eventually send it to us in Egypt. Is it possible. Have you heared of any one did that

I just received today a reply to send passports to candian embassy in Cairo but I am wondering how as I am quite sure that it is closed

Yes, they can ship to US and Canadian addresses

Egyptian authorities don't allow sending passports by mail (or currier) internationally. So you have to hand carry it to outside Egypt and then send it to Ottawa. Then you relative, or friend in US or Canada would receive and has to hand carry it back to you in Egypt.

That's my problem. I have already sent Ottawa a request explaining the situation in Egypt and asking for stamping the visa in Egypt or any other solution and still waiting their reply. This email should be considered as a response during the time limit ... but I am just worried it has been over two weeks with no reply.

Use the services of VFS Global. They send the passports to the visa office and return it back. They have a branch in Giza.

That a wonderful news. When did you send your email? Did they ask to send it to the Canadian Embassy or the Visa Center in Giza? would you please share their reply? .. Thanks.

They asked to send it to candian embassy and by the way sending passports is not prohibited it just needs approvals that courier will get but just tell them that it is passports and that you need to send to government in Canada I don't this will make any problems
Just let any friend in cananda to sent you prepaid envelope and send it to you to enclose with passports and that it

No, I still haven't got my PPR yet.
But to plan ahead, I contacted them and they said that sending passports to the embassy is part of their services.

Also, this is a quote from their website:

If you have received notification from the Government of Canada requesting your passport, your passport(s) along with the request letter may be submitted through this Visa Application Centre.

It costs 190 pounds per passport.

I called them as well and they said they don't have anything to do with immigration visas. Are you from Cairo? Can you pay the embassy a visit to check if the consular service at the embassy is open?

BTW, my brother once sent his passport though from Canada, it got stuck in the customs for 3 weeks. That was coming to Egypt.

AFAIK, VFS offices don't send passports overseas too.

Bro, you can find it out yourself. Go to the SS and check out Average proc. times for Ottawa

my medical sheet show IME NOT UMI
i did my medical on 25 november and uploaded same day and till now no third line
so what do you think???

Even we did our medicals on Dec 21 and still waiting for an online update ..... -( feeling helpless here
