Passport request:
Once the immigration authorities are ready to issue the Visa, applicant will be required to submit their original passport for Visa Stamping. Original Passport must be submitted for the Principal applicant as well as each accompanying family members. Each passport will need to be valid for at least 12 months and have minimum of 2 pages per visa.


regarding the above point;


I am the pricipal applicant and my passport expiry date is for more than 5 years from now which is not a problem
My wife is secondary applicant but her passport is valid for less than 10 months from now. Will this be a problem when submitting passport?

If there is a problem, please let me know what steps i should take in place.

If possible get your spouse's passport renewed and update them about changes at the time you get MR email or if you want you can even inform them about changes before MR email.

Why don't you renew your spouse's passport? It will be a huge problem for travel later on even if the visa is stamped in the old one. One cannot usually travel internationally with a passport expiring in less than months. So, the best thing for you is to get the visa stamped in the renewed passport.

Email and Mail them requested forms. Also mention in email that you have already mailed original forms.

Thanks Goku for your valuable advice.Sorry to ask you again there is any problem to use both email and courier to send same forms. If you don't mind please tell me the Email id Of NDVO.

One more doubt,Still i dint get processing started or MR message from NDVO after PER(i am a May 2nd applicant).I have already took PCC of me and my wife (before 3 months)that i did not submit at the time application to CIO .There is any problem to send PCC along with updated forms with out PCC request from NDVO.

For everyone who's waiting like me... Enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyy desi food (pulao kebab, chapli kebab, biryani , tikkaz etc etc), spend time with your relatives, friends and loved ones while u spend your last few months waiting to spread your wings to fly off to Canada...
Cause you surely will miss this time n will remember it!!!

You know what, when I came over to the UK about 4 years ago, I was thinking exactly the same. I visited all of my favorite restaurants and met all relatives.

While I still miss some of my fav Mumbai restaurants, family members, friends and some of the festivals. After few months in London, I figured that it was not really as bad as I thought. In fact I used to eat a lot of Chinese, Italian and American (fast food) in India, here I am eating more Indian food than I used to eat it back home in India. Plus I have been able to visit family few times a year, also every year few relatives are visiting me so it's not always as different environment on the other side of the sea as one might imagine before visiting. So don't worry!

Disclaimer: It could be a London specific thing only! Canadian cities may differ.

Also, CIC did not email you about the return? I was under the impression that you get a return app email from CIC in case the application is returned. Can seniors confirm?

1) when we receive MR, does that mean that our application got accepted? Is there any case where the application got refused after that?
2) Do we receive PCC requests and MR at the same time?
3) If we've been called to interview, is that after or before MR?

After getting PR card, how long one must stay in Canada to maintain PR status? I read on CIC's website that one must be living in Canada for 3 out of last 4 years before applying for Citizenship but I want to know does PR gets voided, ie. can someone stay outside Canada for 2 years after getting PR and still maintain status?

When you are a permanent resident, you can live outside of Canada, but must live in Canada for at least two years (cumulatively) in a five-year period. If you live outside of Canada for longer, you may lose your permanent resident status.

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) out of the four years (1,460 days) preceding your application. Please note that you cannot meet the residence requirements for citizenship without a minimum of two (2) years as a permanent resident.

When calculating your time in Canada:

only the four (4) years preceding the date of your application are taken into account;
each day you lived in Canada before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day;
each day you lived in Canada after you became a permanent resident counts as one day;
time spent serving a sentence for an offence in Canada (e.g. prison, penitentiary, jail, reformatory, conditional sentence, probation and/or parole) cannot be counted toward residence - there are some exceptions to this rule;
absences from Canada may have an impact on your residence. Only a citizenship judge can determine if you meet the residence requirements with fewer than 1,095 days of physical presence.

PER issued: 21 Oct (reached by post on 28th oct)

Some highlights/lowlights of my app:
Did not send my BC, sent matric certificate along with translated Non availability certificate.
Forgot to write my Name on the main application form on last page (signed and dated only)
Sent my brother's matric certificate for relationship proof as addendum in September

SS updated

Congratulations and + 1 without any delay for ss updation
