Hey guys..
I am in a dilemma. Request you to read and give your opinion.
Till now..I was planning to apply in NOC 2171.
I was planning to show my work experience from 2007-2011 in this NOC.
Even though my job titles match exactly the sample titles as shown in 2171, my roles have changed quite considerably during this period
for example, from 2007-2008, I did many of the roles as described in 2171.
But from 2009-2011, I was actually a Program Manager. Many of my roles do match the roles that are mentioned in NOC 0213(computer and information system managers). I used to plan and analyse activities for my project, I used to meet clients to finalize requirements, I used to plan and control the budget and I actually supervised a very large team of 50+ employees(onsite+offshore).

The way the cap limit is reaching, I am a bit skeptical about 2171. My gut feeling says I can still make it but why take a chance. So today, all of a sudden I started thinking why shouldn't I apply in 0213 when I have actually done all those roles ??

-> Is it a good idea to apply under 0213 now ? I can get the required reference letter from my supervisor. Not a problem.
-> I was checking the spreadsheet and I am surprised that there are not many people who applied in 0213. Any specific reason ?
-> Even though my roles have changed, there is no change in my salary (a typical IT services company..I hope you guys understand). Do you think CIC might not accept this as I am saying I became a manger with no change in my salary ??

yes its a good idea and infact a better decision to apply under 0213 as it reflects exactly what u r doing currently.

people didn't applied under that noc can have many reasons, like you many of those have performed different job duties and already applied in other nocs so that's why they didn't considered applying under this one. there can be many reasons.

it doesn't matter that ur salary is increased or decreased or remained the same. cio has nothing to do with it, earning salary is not a requirement, less or more, no matter. its wont gona effect ur app. u will only mention the job title u currently holds, u will not mention that u became manager, also u will just mention how much u r earning, not that u started on this salary and still earning the same. so its fine don't worry.

good luck for ur app and apply sooner don't waste time.

Any PCC/Medical requests received for 7th,8th may 2014 applicants......

brother you have to wait almost the same length as u have waited for per, I m 8th may applicant and I guess I will receive MR by November inshAllah. have faith and keep hopes high, good luck.

brother forget about noc 2174 and 2173. u can try ur luck in other related nocs.

brother these 2174,2173,2171 are hottest nocs, they will fill up quickly and are considered in top 5.......I cant say about 2171 either but atleast u can try ur luck. u mentioned that u will apply by mid of October, I can say that my starting of October u will have an idea where 2171 is standing.....atleast by then the other two nocs will already be reached......but 2171 would also be above 500 by then.

try to submit ur app earlier. good luck.

How important it is to mention the annual salary on the experience letter and for three years how you should mention it as every year there is slight change in the annual salary?

i want to apply for FSW in "Database analysts and data administrators" category (NOC code 2172). I have done my IELTS. i sent my educational docs to university of Toronto for assessment earlier this month. i am expecting their response by first or second week of September.

CIC website says only 16 people have been selected, so far, in my category. if i apply by 3rd week of September, what would be my chances of selection?

Thanks for the advice. I am currently not holding this position. What I talked about is from 2007-2011. But anyway, I got your main point.
I was just now reading the NOC 0213 description in detail and I am sure I am matching close to 85-90% of the job duties mentioned there.
As you said, I should apply in this NOC as it reflects what I have done exactly.

just on a side note, I went to the offical CIC website to check the current cap for 0213. It shows 0 of 0 entries. :-[
I mean I find it weird that not even a single Indian IT guy has applied under this NOC.

I am already ready with rest of the application. I have my ielts, wes eca, proof of funds, etc. ready. I am a single applicant, so all the application details are pretty straight forward for me.
My supervisor is just a phone call away and I can get the reference in 2 days.
I'll just think over this tonight and apply.

Suggestions from other senior folks are much appreciated

that's a great news, but those who are getting mr are basically residing in Canada or usa or near by countries.......their VO is Ottawa may be.......I m applying from Pakistan, my VO is London......I dont think anyone got mr who applies from other countries than usa and Canada.

I received my per on 18 aug....how can I get mr in September? instead i m hoping to receive mr by October end or by November...... good luck.

I believe u will be under cap for this noc by September....but try to apply sooner. good luck.

Just a suggestion,

Please use fresh email id for this application instead of using ur regular one
Reason 1: you can count on that inbox for "only" mail from cic in future
Reason:2 cic /lvo won't be able to trace ur fb or linkedin profile linked to ur regular mail id and u can make new fb or linkedin profile with sync to ur application

Precaution is better than cure !

Also only reason, I can't apply before mid oct is, I am giving IELTS in mid Sept, and I have to wait till mid of Oct.. for having my result in hand... Hence this painful wait....

as one of the respected member pointed out about 0213,,,,i also just checked and confirmed that this time 0213 is not being offered.......brother where and which site u r checking? the website it here
