and if a person has more then 67 points excluding ielts... is it necessary to include ielts result with the package.

MANDATORY for the Primary Applicant!

hi guys,
why is it taking so long for the application to be processed?why is it in may 9th still? how long is it going to take for an application to be processed. I am getting getting very worried.

Does anyone know that if the cap update only including people applied on 4 May? There is this statement at the bottom of the page "The number of complete federal skilled worker applications received as of May 4, 2013 is an estimate".

Are your sure about this?

Is the 4.5 years of experience for the below scenario incorrect?
10 months experience in Company A.
3 years and 10 months experience in company B.

Total 4 and half years.

Edit: I meant to ask doesn't the experience count as 4 years in this case? CORRECT in my opinion. The experience is counted as cumulative.

Thank you very much my dear Oscar. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see your response but only now.

I think you really brought up reasonable intelligent questions, whose answers will definitely help me to reach a decision concerning my work experience.
Actually, I am a dentist, NOC 3113, which is sadly not included on the list of fsw occupatios this year. I am doing a part-time PhD in Syria, though this sounds a bit of a bluff given the current appalling circumstances that we live under in this country. I have performed nearly similar duties and responsibilities of a university lecturer for 12 hours weekely since I enrolled in the PhD program. and this work is paid on a monthly basis, and the pay is clearly stated in the work contract.
Anyway, I found a piece of information on cic website that may weaken my case, I already asked our friend Future-Canadian about it, and he thought that my case may be refused because of it:

Can I count my work as a teaching assistant toward the work experience requirement?

Your work experience must have been full-time (or the equivalent in part-time hours), worked continuously and paid, for over at least one year in the same occupation. Often, jobs as teaching, research or lab assistants at post-secondary institutions are part time, only for the academic year, not the full year and would not count toward the work experience requirement for this program.

I really count on this part-time experience to complete the obligatory condition of work experience in FSW program, so in view of this, what do you think? do I still stand a chance to make it through FSW program?

Best regards.

Warning: if your feedback is negative as that of our friend Future-Canadian, I'll commit suicide.

Hi, Brother are you a dentist? And was this a full-time PdD program that you were enrolled in (did it take more than 5 hours of your time on a day to day basis?)? Which country did you do your PhD in? The answer to these questions might help to suggest alternatives.

Adding up more than one job to obtain even the first year of experience is not alright. It should be one complete and continuous year paid full-time experience or a part-time equivalent.

My fear is hopefully you are not trying to force-fit your case, because one thinks of 'concealing' facts or twisting it when the truth by itself is not sufficient. Normally, if the case is strong, one will have several documents to support / prove their case.

As per the CIC website it says:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=393&t=6

Can I count part-time work toward the work experience requirement?

You can count part-time work toward the work experience requirement, as long as you were not a full-time student at the time.

However, you must have gained the equivalent amount of experience as someone who worked full-time for at least one year (1560 hours)

Another CIC link on work experience:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

B) Minimum requirements

Work experience

If your application is eligible to be processed, we will then assess it to see if your work experience, as described above, is valid.

Your work experience must be:
•at least one year (1560 hours), full-time or an equal amount in part-time,
paid work (volunteer work, unpaid internships, etc. do not count),
•in the same occupation, and
•within the last 10 years,
•at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC)

A question for you, as you say "since all PhD researchers have to supervise undergraduates and to perform the job of a lecturer on a part time basis." Now was this paid work?

I can't seem to recall / find where it said on CIC site that while studying part-time the work has to be paid and for continuous one year full-time (or part-time equivalent) so the person is earning just like someone doing the same job full-time would.

Request to respond to the above questions. Cheers! :)

That was an incorrect date. You can see that it is 2013 instead of 2014.

Just looking at your details I can tell that you score more than 67 points. Therefore you are eligible for FSW. How much more than 67 doesn't really matter.

Secondly for 2281 1st week of August is fine (in my opinion).

Get your application ready asap and apply.

Good Luck!
