i have seen yesterday one more guy has encashed demand draft for 7 th may in 2174 . i think they still processing 7 th may. my dd is still outstanding ...any hope for remaning 7th may..

Hello Everyone,

I am from India. I have approached my bank for a Demand Draft in Canadian Dollars with a validity of atleast 5 months as per CIC guidelines. My Banker is saying that its not possible to issue Demand Draft with validity of more than 3 months as per RBI guidelines. Has anyone faced this problem before? Any suggestions on what should I do?

Don't worry. All the International DD are valid for 6 months if they don't have a valid date printed. Walk into any bank and get a DD done.

If you have SBI, then walk in to NRI branch ( Its easier as they know it very well). They don't accept cash for > RS 50 K

if you want to take it from Thomas cook, you need to take a DD from a local bank in fav of Thomas cook and then they will issue instantly. I heard some branches, they even take cash

I took it from HDFC and was asked to get 15c approved by Charterd. so I asked them to give 3 cheq , 550+550+150

Some banks takes upto 12 days to clear the draft. Why don't you check with your local bank for status. wait for another week, if you don't hear anything, you can call at +1 613 944 4000 and enquire. you might need to try 2-3 times, because some of the officers are not very co-operative.

Are you able to see online status in ECAS? I am also 7 may applicant, DD chrged on 23 rd June?

Yes i can see my ECAS Status it says "In process" - we have recieved your application on 7th May2014. how about urs?

Can I do the translation by myself and submit the affidavit about the same from my side or the affidavit needs to be from the Notary only?

The reason I am asking is that I am staying in another state of India and not getting someone who can translate the document from my native language to English here!

You can ask someone at your native because self affidavit is not valid.

Last year I moved back to India, but I still have my foreign bank account active with money in that...

So can I show a bank statement from that bank as a proof of fund? I asked them to provide me a bank certificate but its been a month now I haven't received it.. and now I dont want wait more ...

Please advise!!!

I am currently a PhD student in one of Ontario's universities for almost 1 year. Also, I have working experience since last 10 years, I worked as software engineer for 4.5 years in my home country. I am totally confused about the express entry program, and CIC opened a track for software engineers till next December. I have the following options:
1. Shall I prepare my documents now and apply before Jan 2015 under software engineering track ? or
2. Shall I wait the express entry to see what will happen ? or
3. Shall I wait another one year to be eligible to apply in PhD stream (which I don't know if it will be canceled by express entry or not next Jan ) ?

I am afraid to take the first option as I heard from my colleagues that if a new system will be launched (e.g. Express entry), this will slow down the other applicants who applied before Jan 2015 as most of concentration will be dedicated to the new system applicants, is that true ?
Your help is really appreciated.

!. How to check application status online? I tried to google it and it asks for identification number coming from CIC. When can we get this one? are they going to email that one to us?

2. Regarding the bank statement for proof of funds. Would CIC call the bank for verification? AT what stage of the processing? So, we cannot take the money until the decision is made?

3. For the employment certificate; Are they going to call the employer for the verification of your employment including the previous ones? I am just worried that my previous employer will not track my employment since I was employed there 4 years ago.

5. Regarding the global spread sheet, how much percentage will it represent the entire applicants globally. I believe not all will enter their data like myself, I didnt do that yet.

It depends, If you want to apply now better you do it quickly because your NOC 2173/ 2174 are very hot, might filled by August end.
Because you are already in canada, you can opt for srf after completing the PhD and later can apply under Canadian experience class. You cannot rely on the PhD steam, because they might shut it down in 2015.
They are not going to slow down the 2014 applicant to make 2015 a success, because by the time they start evaluation of express entry apps, most of the 2014 apps will be with local VOs and local VOs work at their own pace. btw have you done your IELTS (General training) yet.

Hi,
1. you can check your application status here https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do?lang=en&_ga=1.215790039.1576748714.1403849418
You can check it with your old UCI, if you have one. Else you have to wait till you get PER. In your case it will be around second week of october when you might receive the PER through e-mail.
2. They normally don't check with banks. Your local VO will ask you to submit 6 or 12 months statement along with medicals. So, keep your funds unless your decision is made.
3. They might call your present employer to verify, but not your previous employers.
4. You bank can check on your request the status of DD. Keep visiting the blog, when CIO start charging the apps of your date, you can send a request to your bank for status.
5. Global spreadsheet represents approx 16-17% of entire applicants globally.

I would advise, you should enter your apps data in spreadsheet.
