Iam a May 7 applicant, when i checked the EACS status using the UCI number which was issued last year, the status says "We received your application for permanent residence on May 7, 2014".

i didn't get any PER email as such mentioning the same ! does the above message show a positive sign ? does it mean that my DD has been encashed? (i didn't checked my dd status though)

am i eligible for the next step ?

The main duties listed in NOC 2173 match exactly with my overall work experience. I have over 9 years of IT experience developing software applications. In my current employment, i play the role of a Software Architect and my main duties include, Technical Design, Requirement Analysis, Development, Integration, Deployment and Maintenance of Software Applications. I also lead a team of software developers for projects.

However it also mentions under "Employment Requirements" about the need for
"bachelor's degree, usually in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering or mathematics or Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required."

However my Bachelor's of Engineering (4 year) degree field of study is "Electrical and Electronics Engineering".. This is now throwing me off... is this mandatory or just illustrative?

Yes, the NOC seems bigger than his role (just because he is self employed). The main text of the NOC says "They work either alone or in conjunction with the board of directors to develop and establish objectives for the company, and to develop or approve policies and programs". From his description it seems that he is managing a small oversees branch of his company based on policies developed and approved in H.O. He is not setting objectives for the company, rather than just achieving those objectives.
Well, # of years don't matter as such, i have seen many smart guys, who joined industry at right time, and moved faster than the time. But main issue is shareholding, one of the job requirements is "several years of middle
management experience", which means that the resource has proved himself in middle management and then
moved up the ladder.
In this case, even if he is setting the objectives and developing the policies, he would have been hired at a relatively senior level and then "in very short span of time" would have been given a major role to oversee the international branch "just because of his shareholding". This in turn means that he has not gained sufficient experience to groom at middle management and may not be able to run any other company at a relatively senior position. Now it all depends on how CIC works, if they just match the duties with NOC or use logic as well.

But certainly, when the case goes to VO for in depth verification, they wont simply be calling and confirming the data. They may check his links in the company and come to know about his ownership stake an realize the reason behind the progression to senior level (between the lines .... they will doubt the write-up in the experience letter.... as the letter is not coming from a neutral person who may lose his job because of misrepresentation....by no means i am saying that he has misrepresented the facts).

Now its up to them, how they view it. They may consider that because of his ownership stake he may not settle in Canada but on the other hand he may be accepted on the basis of his entrepreneurial skills.

In my opinion, applying for relatively a middle management NOC would be a wise option, as it will not open so much scrutiny.

Thanks a lot for the helpful information, I became a share holder after 4 years of working with the firm I don't know if this considered a good point or not? And should my job title be exactly the same as the job titles under the nock, or its ok to be close to it?
And I have another question should I wait for my first application with the missing document to be sent to me before I apply again?

My full time work experience has some conflicts with my study so people keep saying they might reject my application. Do you think the medical request is a good sign?

Congrats! !! Yes that does mean that your DD has probably been encashed but you can always double check with your bank if possible

And yes your PER is probably on its way as per the current trend suggesting that payment of processing fees is an almost guarantee of positive eligibility. ..so yes you are through to the next stage !

Would a genetic disorder ( currently no treatment) in dependent child will disqualify the FSW petition in medical phase?

It depends on a lot of things and on a case by case basic. It will depend mostly on the type of the disorder, the severity, and the current or potential financial burden it can cause to the Canadian government. For example, if it is something like a down's syndrome and you don't have to pay too much for the health costs (there is a maximum amount, you can find that somewhere else), then there shouldn't be too much problem. But, if it is something like cancer and you have to spend substantially, then there is a higher chance of getting rejected.

There are other threads in this forum that talk a lot about medical related issues. You can do a search and read them. I think a forum member called 'computergeek' is the go-to guy for this kind of stuff.

Really depends on the NOC you are applying under...if one of the hotter NOCs it could be a little risky...check the forum SS and the official CIC CAP update could give you a clearer picture
