Chat logs are absolutely NOT valid proofs. You need a common address or common legal documents, bills etc.
Common-law relation is legally accepted by Canada and whether India accepts it or not is irrelevant.

Can I provide a log of 'Missed Calls' too... will CIO Accept it ?? :P

This is India brother. :)

We have tonnes of rituals/customs more binding on people than court orders. :)

Good question though.

Getting married, being married and "registration of marriage" are three different things.

In India, you can register a marriage that you had 'solemnised' years ago. You need to go to a court of appropriate jurisdiction and find out the process of registering a marriage solemnised some time ago. Mostly, this involves tons of paperwork viz. affidavit, witness statements, varying definitions of "proof" etc etc, but most importantly a lawyer who is 'skilled' in this. Be prepared for some facilitation fees but it is not as complicated as you would imagine. It is fairly common. Some folks re-register a marriage because they lost/misplaced the original marriage certificate. Fairly commonplace - so don't sweat.

Yes I think this info is more relevant.

@neel-here

very true, and even if by mistake it gets delivered to some other address, the receiver takes it to his office, which is on 47-49 Dorchester Street but in that case receiving date gets delayed by a day.
