Incorrect. Spouse of Students are provided Canadian open work permit for the duration of the student's course.

That doesn't make what these guys shared as incorrect. Of course one would get it for the duration the spouse is a student. When the question is about whether the other spouse be able to work if one is a student, that work will be allowed as long as one is a student. What else did you think the period could be brother?

Students are allowed to work on Student work permit.

Check this : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=495&t=15

When one lands as a spouse of overseas student he or she can apply for Open work permit (I gave the link earlier). However, there is usually a bench period for open work permit. Also, different provinces might have additional requirements for language etc. But as per my understanding its not that difficult.

thanks banu :)

Thanks All for providing solution of my query, :)

so i am planning alternate that in case if i will not get place in FSW14 then i will apply student visa for my wife and open work permit(spouse) for my self.

Quite clearly- this statement -"Canada does not allow students spouse to work"-is 100% incorrect. Don't know why you are countering that?

About student visas, some countries like Canada provide work permit to spouse for the same duration as student visa only while some others provide open work permit to spouse for the duration of student visas + duration of subsequent work permit availed by the student. If spouse can get into a skilled job, then he/she a request for extension of that open work permit.

Do I need to list paid apprenticeships as work experience and do I need to provide reference letters for them?

When I completed my apprenticeship I got a final reference letter which lists in which departments I was working, but does not really give details on my duties and it will be hard for me to get anything additional. However, none of the duties fall under the NOC category I plan to apply for so for me it does not have value to list them.

Does anybody have an advise for this?

Yes they may call to verify with the person who signed your experience letter.

If you read my posts, after 3 guys have clarified (Century, Srideep & Banu) I am in agreement that student spouse can get open work permit. I too perused through those links. May be you misunderstood my thread. I am in agreement with you too. Peace!
