Hello all,
I have a few questions and I hope that the senior guys in here can give me a hand. :)

  • When I apply, I am required to state where I intend to live in Canada and I have to apply under a certain NOC. Once I make it to Canada, am I allowed to live in another city or work in another profession than stated in my original application? Just want to understand whether I have such obligations.
  • Besides my jobs that I feel that are eligible for my application, I was also employed full-time in a so called sandwich university program, which means that I had alternative 3-month terms of work and studies with a fixed employer that I was employed with over the full period of my studies. Am I still required to list this and do I need to provide a reference letter?
  • I intend to immigrate to Canada without dependents, what is the sum of funds that I have to proof? I hve read $10000 and $11,824. Which one is true?

Thanks and good luck to all of you!

Once you land in Canada you can move anywhere you want and work in any kind of job you want. However if you apply under FSW you cannot land in Quebec. You have to land elsewhere then you can move to Quebec if you want.

You must disclose all work experience in the last 10 years and all educational history. You are also required to provide, or explain why you can't provide, a reference letter from all employers (see the document checklist). It's also to your advantage to do so because it can earn you points. Your sandwich situation is a bit unusual but all you need to do is explain it thoroughly, it will be just fine.

You can check the required settlement funds here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp. When you say you intend to immigrate without dependants, are you saying that you have a family but they're not accompanying you? Note that you need the amount of funds corresponding to the size of your family even if some of them are not accompanying you to Canada. Also note that you must disclose on your application a spouse or common-law partner and any children you have, as well as provide some related documents, even if they are not accompanying you.

Good luck!

Hello Guys,

I have one important news yesterday CIC returned my file because i had not listed all the duties and responsibilities.
Can i apply again?
My employer gave a new letter with all the responsibilities.

What is the process to apply again because they have already removed the transcripts.

Sorry to hear that. You applied under FSW2014? And they have already returned the application? So fast...

Go ahead and apply again, fix your application and send it off! Good luck!

Hello Seniors,

I have doubt here. once CIC officer receive the application package, will they put the package in Q ?? or they open the package and start assessment??
if they put the package in Q? how they gonna work to assess the package?? who will do the assessment, is the person who receive the package??

Thanks in advance.
Nobody really know how things work since none of us work with CIC.
Your tension and picking is a natural phenomenon .........try to calm yourself down and do less of worry.
Cheers.

Hi All,

How do i specify settlement funds:

Assets: Property (total cost) + fixed deposits +bank statements
Liabilities: Property (what is left to be paid)
Settlement funds:fixed deposits, bank statments

Please advise.

Yes. Property should actually be current value if you have a good idea of what the current value is. You can also include as assets provident funds if any.

Settlement funds are anything liquid and unencumbered, so for example stocks and bonds that are easily liquidated could be included.

hi seniors
please help as my application reached on 5 may so need to act quickly if i have to send the cover letter.

A cover letter isn't necessary. Being that you already sent your application it's not wise to rock the boat by sending additional items separately. Is there a specific reason you feel you need a cover letter?

Hi ,

I am preparing my application and have few questions:
1.The documents for which only copies are required, do we need to attest the copies?

2. I don't have my police clearance, do i need to attach a letter in my application mentioning that
i will submit the same later?

3.If my canada visa was rejected earlier, do i need to attach the refusal letter?

4.If i worked parttime along with studies, do i need to mention part time job?

5.I joined new company in April 2014, i have the reference letter without duties. Do i need to attach that?
I am applying in NOC 2174 on basis of my previous employment till mar 2014 , total 7 years exp

6. Do i need to add photos in application as per sequence mentioned or i can atachon top of all documents?

Thanks

Guys Please help.

I am just initiating the process to submit my CASE to CIC ISB under FSW2014 Category. While I am calculating my point, I am confused at Working Experience and NOC selection factors. Please help me out.

1 - What is my NOC?

My Job Title is Draftsman.

A
NOC No = 2253
NOC Title (Draftsman) = Matched
NOC Description = Matched
NOC Required Skills & Knowledge = Matched

B
NOC No= 2232
NOC Title (Mechanical engineering technologists and technicians) = Not Matched
NOC Description = Matched
NOC Required Skills & Knowledge = Matched but 60%-70%

May I use B instead of A. because A is not included in the occupation list for FSW which is proposed for the 1/May/2014.

2 - How I calculate My Work Experience?
I have in total 6.5 Years (Full Time) of Experience but my 3.9 Years are over Lapped with my post secondary education (Part Time) which i am going to use for Education Selection Factor. How I calculate my points now

A - CIC will award me 15 Points for my 6.5 years work experience OR
B - They will first minus 3.9 Years and award me just 11 points for my remaining 2.6 Years.

Thanks in Advance for you time.

The crucial point is that your job duties match as much as possible one of the NOCs on the eligible list, and that you can get an employer reference letter describing these duties. Your title doesn't matter, type of employer doesn't matter and "required skills and knowledge" doesn't matter, only job duties. But bear in mind that you need a minimum of one year of continuous, full-time work experience in the primary NOC under which you are applying in order to be eligible for the program. You can still get points for experience outside your primary NOC provided that it is at skill type 0 or skill level A or B.

It is also ok that you were working and studying at the same time, provided that your work experience (especially for the minimum 1 year in your primary NOC) was full-time, which CIC typically defines as at least 30 hours per week. If you were truly working full time (and your employer reference letters support this), and you were also attending school simultaneously, more power to you, that is perfectly acceptable. Just be sure that you fill in all forms properly, and you will have some overlap in the time periods you enter on some of the forms, so be sure to explain it thoroughly.

If you have over 6 years of work experience and all of it was full-time and was at skill type 0 or skill level A or B, you should get the maximum 15 points. But nobody can be completely sure how CIC will evaluate it. I suggest applying for all the points you can get so you will have a cushion just in case.
