Got a letter(hardcopy) from NDVO today tht my wife needs to undergo some extra medical tests...

Got a call frm Hospital too, the call dropped in between so cud not hear much...but, that guy has asked me to take my wife to same hospital where we underwent the initial tests last week...i think he was also hinting tht her x-ray has shown some signs of TB and she required to undergo some sputum tests (very strange though...she has never had TB nor she has any signs of it....rather she is healthier than me....anyways...naturally we are quite shocked !!)....I have done some r&d and found similar cases on this forum.....they might ask her to Undergo SPUTUM test for 3 consecutive days and then she might have to submit another X-Ray after minimum 3 months from the day her first x-ray was taken(i.e.,14nov)....Finally, if Sputum Test & X-Ray are fine..her medical will go thru...and if not, then she might be asked to take medication for 3-6 months :-(

So, fact is tht after cruising thru all stages till now.....Suddenly today my whole PR process is delayed by 4 to 8 months Sad

Feeling bad for my wife, she is feeling guilty conscious and blaming herself for this delay...inspite of me telling her repeatedly to chill out...I think, In life whatever happens, happens for good and it happens for a certain reason.

Just out of curious...Didnt you get any update when you took the test initially??? Didnt doctors say initially???

but if i receive my application back then by the time i send it back, will they accept it??? as i have heard its gonna close in december 2014

if you already did, you should wait for their response as the mail you are going to send is going to take longer to receive a response and by then (god forbid) your application will have returned to you

As per fsw 2014 trend it will take 45 to 60 days to get reply from CIC. So wait for your turn.
Try to call CIC on 0016139444000

Select 1 for English
Then 1 for foreign affair
2 for immigration
Call is being transferred to CIC
Then 1 for English
2 for status
1 for PR

worst case scenario - my application failed the completeness check and its sent back to me and by the time the mail gets to me, its past the 6 months validity period of the DD. what happens then?
how can I en-cash a non-valid DD? and its in CAD so how do I get it back to local currency?

You can cancel your DD upon expiration if it's not encashed. You will get money in INR at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of cancellation.

nerylanmi, you seem to be quite sure about the acceptance of self claimed JDs and reference letter. Any particular experience? Please share.

My Boss was too busy to type one for me even after I explained all to him and the purpose. So I typed one out myself and gave him to sign it. But he refused and I couldn't apply for fsw 2013 cos of that and no fund then.
This time i tried samething and he refused again stating that company doesn't give immigration letters but it perfectly ok by him as I had performed all the duties.
Next case -went onboard as usual (seaman) and gave same thing to my line manager (Chief Engineer) to sign. Which he was happy to do for me.
I am not saying you shld claim experience for what you haven't done before.... Pls dnt get me wrong. But you have to help yourself as most employers can just be bothered.

Also my annual leave and working hours was attached and duly referenced in my cover letter.

Means you should expect a MR very soon! I got my within 3 days from this status( At least from the NDVO it was fast don't know your VO). Keep checking your email.

It means visa office has started working on your application and depending on how quickly background checks go, you will get Medical request.

The VO is processing your application and you will get MR within 7 days.

This means file transfer to the Local VO from CIC is complete. Now processing at the local VO has started.
