My hunch, they mistakenly update the cap. no way there should be any charge after cap update. From last year experience, we observe sudden stoppage of charging 1112 and 2174 and then cap update.

We could actually say that but few bits of caution:
1. This rule might apply to the last 100-150 apps they updated in a haste last week
2. We need few more charges to strengthen this rule.

That's complicated.

I would say one thing 'Don't make new passport unless you receive anything from CIC' as this might go against you. Wait till January 2015 for your PER and then apply for your new passport and immediately inform CIC and VO.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts but If I may, renewing PP while apps is with CIC is not a problem at all. Take my case for example : my PP will expire Dec2014, had sent my app on May 29, 2014..renewed my passport and got a new one on June 20...received PER Sept 24...

I would suggest just go ahead and have the PP renewed, once PER is received there's still plenty of time to update Local VO of the new PP.

my passport expires at march 2015 and my app was received on july 29 so what do you suggest ?

should i renew now or wait ?

Update the passport ASAP. You can always submit the updated passport information after you get PER. But, you won't receive PR visa OR be able to travel to any foreign country in a passport that is valid for less than 6 months. So, you will need to update it ASAP.

Nope, it most probably means that there will be no FSWP under current regulations from 1st Jan, only EE profiles.

hi Seniors,

Could you please help me how to inform NDVO for the update of new passport information about myself and my son, I am a 21st May applicant and received my PER mail on 15th Sep. I believe the application must be in processing as per the data in xl sheet.
Is there any address where i can send the documents directly as I have tried raising the query in CSE but no response received yet.

You need a valid regular passport - so it is not an issue.

I suggest you to renew the validity now so that when you get PER, you can update your local VO.

Note that your VO will give you one year visa to enter Canada; unlike embassies of other countries, Canada don't issue more visa period beyond the validity of passport. So during getting visa, if your passport got 3 month validity, canadian embassy will give you 3 month validity and not 1 year validity.

You mean renew it now, even before getting charged or receiving the PER?
I am wondering the best moment to do it: Now or after receiving the PER (being optimistic and believing everything will go fine) when I can handle the matter directly with my local VO. I am from Brazil.

I am concerned with what i435 mentioned about any potential requirement at the first step with CIC though. if they require 6 months validity date, the will return my application (and I will lost my shot).
on the other hand, if I renew the passport now, my previous passport will become invalid and when CIC does the first check, they will find an invalid passport and might return the application too... ?

That's scaring me...

Renew your PP, I already had my answer in the previous post. Renewing your PP will not impact your application, you have plenty of time later to update your Local VO of your new PP after PER.
