Hey seniors,

Just to be crystal clear on this matter, everybody agrees I should either:

- Change my Generic Application Form so that it doesn't claim any French knowledge;

- Wait for the TEF to arrive so that everything that is mentioned on the Generic Application Form is confirmed;

Because the lawyer's opinion is that since my main language is English – as stated on the Schedule 3 – I only need to send the IELTS and the Generic Application Form may mention I speak French.

Actually, reading the Generic Application Form and the Document Checklist I tend to agree with the lawyer's opinion on this subject. On section 9 of the Checklist, they say that “If claiming points for both official languages, submit test results for both”

What's your take?

I should clarify my answer. It's ok to claim ability in French or any other language. But without the TRF, you won't get points for it. That's what I mean by not claiming it. In fact, you should be complete and honest in your application and list French if you speak it.

Also, if you have a lawyer, you should usually follow your lawyer's advice, unless it is clearly incorrect.

ICAS vs WES

Hey everybody, I started preparing my documents a few months back, before I knew this forum. So I wasn't aware that WES was the de-facto choice to getting an ECA.

So since I've done a double degree program (half of my studies were done in one university, and half of my studies in another one), which isn't standard, and I wanted to be sure my ECA would come out correctly, I decided to get my ECA at both WES and ICAS at the same time.

Here is a quick comparison of both processes:

August 16th: Ordered an ECA from WES. I have completed an online form in which I chose both my universities (that were correctly listed), and they sent me the document list. My ECA was already estimated.

August 17th: Ordered an ECA from ICAS. I have completed an online form, but manually. There were no universities listed to choose. They sent me the document list, but no ECA estimation.

September 7th: Both WES and ICAS received my part of the documents and the documents of one of my universities.

September 9th: WES confirmed that the documents sent were accepted and that there were missing only the documents from the other university.

September 23rd: Both WES and ICAS received the documents from the other university.

September 25th: WES confirmed that the documents sent from the other university were correct and that my evaluation would begin.

September 29th: WES finished their evaluation and sent me my ECA. The evaluation was as it should be, mentioning both schools and that I performed a joint program.

October 3rd: ICAS sent me an e-mail notifying they received the documentation from my FIRST University, but they had questions on whether or not they were original (they were sent on a sealed, signed envelope...), so they will contact them to be sure. No word from the analysis of the documentation of the second university yet...


Overall, I'm very impressed with WES. They were very fast and accurate.

With ICAS, on the other hand, I'm really unimpressed. I'll keep you guys updated as the process evolves, but it looks to me it is going to take several months yet for it to be completed.

Thank you again for your answer and clarity. I’m very happy and more confident now we have the same interpretation on this matter.

Regarding my immigration lawyers, I think very highly of them and I think every advice they gave me makes a lot of sense. But I just wanted to double check this item with the forum.

My FBI PCC application reached on Sept 8th and my CC is charged today.

Will let everyone know once i receive the PCC.

SVCANADA , Can you tell me how to print FD-258 form ? I mean on which paper have you used ? Local police department needs any kind of documents for this work ?

You can download the form and print it in color on a heavy paper. A4 Size

Hi friends,

I need help in getting answer of following questions regarding Indian Post..

1) How much time a registered post from India could take to reach NS Office of CIC?
2) Is there any way to get its notification of track that whether it has reached there or not?

Website of Indian Post is not showing anything beyond its packed from Delhi office via Air to Toronto from last 20 days...

Indian registered post will take around 2-3 weeks, Speed Post 1-2 weeks, only speed post will give you tracking#

I am May 20 applicant NOC 2173. Got PER on 9/11 but yet to know status on AOR. I chose VO as New Delhi eventhough i live in US. Will my VO be automatically changed to CPC-O or will it be New Delhi. I am seeing few people who got PER after me got their medical request so getting worried where my application is stuck

SVCANADA...one last question...how to receive fingerprint report from FBI? I have read below article

" Due to changes in processing, effective October 12, 2013, the FBI will no longer accept return self-addressed stamped envelopes with Departmental Order requests. This includes pre-paid Priority Mail, FedEx account numbers, United Parcel Service, etc., foreign postage coupons, and requests to forward correspondence to the Department of State for the apostille process. Envelopes received postmarked after this date will be destroyed. The FBI will return all results, both foreign and domestic, by U.S. First-Class Mail via the United States Postal Service. Thank you for your patience as we try to streamline our processes to improve our service to you."

how to use pre-paid mail service for this ? Is it flat rate service ?

I know American english is confusing... You need to send only 3 things

1. Finger Print Form
2. Application form for Finger Print
3. Payment of $18.00 per person

I applied in USA and did my medical in India. But only after I received my MR. You need the medical form to take the medical exam. UCI number is not sufficient to take that test. in addition to UCI, there is a IMEI number that is needed for the test. And that number is on the MR request form. So if you get a MR while you are in India, take the test in India. Hope this helps. I took my test in Pune and my ECAS status with medicals got updated in a week.
