Dears,

I have been already charged for my FSW application. Now i have a question. How long does it usually take to receive PER (if they actually issue it for me)?

Thanks

Yeah lots of them. Check the spreadsheet in my signature for the exact details.

Thanks sss1! Pardon my ignorance - how come some applicants have to wait for months at a stretch for any progress on their application while some get MRs within 3 months time. Is there a trend on the basis of which this is determined?

Dear all,

I need 16 points to make a total of 67 points.

My Ielts result is still awaited. Can someone plz help in letting me know how much scores should I be getting in each to ensure that I am safe???

16 is the minimum passing marks for ielts
So if u r through ielts (I am sure u will be )you automatically achieve another 16 points

Re: Rumors about PCC Validity

Okay, for once this needs to be made clear as I see that (some) people are misinformed about PCC validity and are spreading incorrect information. Unless PCC instruction for YOUR specific country says to wait for some particular milestone of the PR process, please do NOT wait post PER to get the PCC process started.

There is only a requirement of getting PCC issued within the 3 months of initial application submission, if one is submitting PCC along with the application right upfront. Post that stage there is no such 3 month condition, and a PCC can be obtained one day after the application submission and that is okay too. THIS IS SPECIFICALLY FOR FASTER PROCESSING VISA OFFICES LIKE CPC-OTTAWA, NEW DELHI ETC. that process applicants and generally issue PR within 8 to 10 months. The only thing CIC states on PCC validity other than the above is that all PCCs are considered valid by CIC for 1 year, unless a shorter validity duration is mentioned on the PCC itself by the issuing authority. Normally, most PCCs don't mention validity periods (exception can occur though) but only have a date of issue for the PCC.

In essence when a PCC is valid for 1 year from the date of issue, for faster processing VOs, there is no point in not initiating the PCC process right after Fee Charge or PER. I, in fact, initiated mine right after application submission in May 2014, and both my PCCs are issued in June 2014 itself though my PER came in August.

Police certificates Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

Note: If you are including your police certificates with your application to the CIO, please ensure that your certificates were not issued more than three months earlier. Police certificates are generally valid for 12 months from the date they are issued. However, if a final decision is not made on your application before the expiry of your police certificate, the visa office may request that you provide a new one.

Very well said and put !!!
+1 for clearing the doubts ... :)

Dear Namaste,

Thanks a lot for your input. The question 2 is very clear for me. However for question 1, there is no separate space provided for writing the name in Native language in IMM5406? Besides, when they say NAMES, does that mean all the names (dad, mom, siblings etc) that appear in that form needs to be written also in Native language?

The instruction on the forms asks to write native names for ALL people mentioned in the form. You have 3 options:
1) write name in native language in the same space as the English name
2) Attach an extra sheet for native language names
3) Don't mention names in native language at all. This is not a required feature so even if you decide not to include names in native language there won't be any negative consequence to your application.

Your choice.

I'm so happy I want to jump around the office, thanks to my forum buddies whom supported be through this long journey so far and good luck to those still waiting

Congrats and enjoy!!

I just realized that my transcripts are at least a year old, although they clearly state that i have graduated with such degree on such date.

I have got WES evaluation report. I am going to send those one year old transcripts along with my WES eca report and copy of my degrees. Is that fine if my transcripts are not fresh? I have graduated at least 3 4 years ago.

Please let me know.
FYI, my degrees are from US colleges.
I am also sending copy of my degrees.

Amex does not set any spending limits (domestic or international)

you dont need to send transcripts to CIC unless you are a PhD applicant. If your applying under certain noc, you just need to send original wes report along with photo copies of the corresponding degrees mentioned in the wes and also the respective mark sheets.

That's fine. In fact, you can send only the copies of the transcript, no original required.
